I used xoom.com to send money to India. It seemed to be a safe and reliable service until I found at the end of my transaction xoom.com provides th ability for anyone to log into your account and send wire transfers or to access your entire bank account with one easy click! There are gapping security holes in their system due to the way that allow for instant transfers without any security once someone is logged into your account.
Additionally.... After discovering the lack of proper security for an account I deleted my bank information and that caused the transaction I did earlier to cancel. I was not bothered that the transaction cancelled until I was informed it can takes weeks for the refund to go back to my account....
The sad thing is like in most banks or financial services companies there are almost no regulations or laws governing how this type company operates. And as you might expect all of their customer support is in India and there is no way to get through to anyone but inexperienced call center operators that can only repeat from scripts.
This company is a rip off. Sadly they are protected by size, affiliation with other organizations that simply abuse size and power.
