Yahoo Small Business Website overcharges Sunnyvale California
I signed up for a Yahoo small business website; I have a receipt that states I was going to be charged $19.98 a month for a year. When I paid through paypal, I was charged $29.96. I sent them an email to the email on the paypal receipt questioning why the difference and was told they don't handle billing questions for small businesses via email. I would need to call them. So I looked all over their website and couldn't find a number for billing I emailed them again and asked for the phone number. I called; was told the wait would be less than 25 minutes. So I held on. At the end of 25 minutes, I was disconnected. Every time I've called back, I get a message that the wait will be less than 25 minutes or less than 30 minutes. This is customer service? I disputed the charge with paypal and my money was refunded. I'd really like to know why the difference in the charge. False advertising? But this is definitely a rip off when the receipt you get from yahoo says you'll be charged $19.98 and you're actually charged $29.96.

I know what the domain privacy charge is. The domain privacy charge is $.99 a month, not $9.98 a month and I specifically removed it. My invoice from yahoo clearly shows I'm receiving a 50% discount on web hosting, but when I check my billing history with yahoo, it say's I'm receiving a 25% discount.
The merchant starter website is $19.98 a month for 12 months, they are waiving the $50 set up fee and one year of domain registration is included in the merchant starter plan.

From what I see from the price, what is the $19.98 per month for? Is it only for your hosting service? Do they give you the ownership of the domain name you signed up for on Yahoo?
The $9.98 per month to me seems to be the charge for 'domain privacy'. In other words, when someone is looking to see the information of the domain you registered for (using whois), the information of yours will not be displayed but rather the information of the company you registered the domain with will be displayed instead. That is an extra charge. I am not sure whether you checked any box when you order the service. It might also be checked by default and you may not know. Once you paid for it, it is not going to be taken out unless you contact them to remove it. Hope this help you to understand what you may need to tell them on the phone.
