Ripoff tour to Costa Rica.

We have approached YesWeTravel to organize a private tour for 2 families of 8 people at the end of Dec – early Jan 2017. After realizing that Mr Novikov has just specific set of options, we have essentially customized our tour by selecting the itinerary, durations, and combination of activities.
The price of the package, excluding air tickets was close to $2500 per person with the following caveats:
· most of the meals have not been included
· First two nights in the Villa Blanka Hotel have been booked directly through hotel, thus also not being part of the package
The following points were striking during our trip:
1. The first hotel that Mr Novikov booked for us for 3 nights in Arena was a motel type accommodation was $52 per night. Mr Novikov was completely unaware of the poor quality of this hotel with broken showers and dirty rooms.
2. Out of 8 days -3 days were defined as free time and we paid additional expenses for any activities during these days
When asked to provide a breakdown for accommodations, activities and transportation Mr Novikov refused it. And we believe he has a good reason to avoid this disclosure given the facts listed above and very cheap/motel type accommodate we had in Arenal area for 3 nights.
We hope this review will help to anyone who considers YesWeTravel as a tour organizer to avoid unjustifiable expenses and non-transparency
