Here are my opinions: The product is not perfect, nor worthless There are a few things you need to know that will help: 1) Go into Control Panel/Systems go to advanced system settings, then performance, then settings, and then advanced and change it to "background programs". HUGE HELP 2) Plugging the MJ into a powered hub may help 3) Contact tech support and have them help you cut a hole in your fire wall 4) Add MagicJack.com and My.Magicjack.com to trusted sites in IE 5) Update software weekly What do I think about Dan Borislow? A used car salesman/marketer. He doesn't list a phone number or email address because at 20.00/year, how could one afford to? He has people in India doing the chatting by text-No Big Deal. My opinion? If price is important and you have a cell, this is a good product? If not, spend the 29.00 a month and make the best of it. As for billing? My wife is checking our account carefully for over charges and recharges as many people have been blogging about that... What would I do if I were Dan Borislow? I would offer this product as Magic Jack Lite; I would offer a service contract which includes repairs and a toll free number (tech support) for a couple of bucks a month. I would start installing these into desktops and laptops preinstalled in new computers with a year free service including tech support for 90 days. That is what I would do. BTW, I sent Dan Borislow two lettters regrding selling the product w/o response. Weird!!!

I bought Magic Jack a month ago. Overall it works great! It does get a bad dialtone once in a while and sometimes it cuts off in the middle of a call. BUT IT IS ALMOST FREE!!! I'm not complaining! The only problem I had was it was dropping a call I was trying to make after 1 ring. I repeatedly tried to get through on this number and It kept doing the same thing. I even did an upgrade and it was doing the same thing. I contacted their live operator service and it was answered within minutes. Boy, was I surprised at that after reading all the bad reports on this site. The help person asked me to try several things and before long it was working fine. Then I discovered that the only number it was dropping was one number I was repeatedly calling. My sons. Every other number worked perfectly. I think this is one of the greatest inventions in a long time. It is priced realistically and the $19 per year is very reasonable for a basically unlimited service to any phone in the U.S. Vonage, which I had nothing but trouble with, was $24.95 a month. I couldn't send or receive a fax on Vonage. The magic jack worked perfectly on each fax I sent or received. I would recommend this product to anyone. The few glitches can't beat the savings I will receive year after year. Even if the device only lasted a year, I would happily rebuy it again. What a deal! My home phone bill with Bell was running $75 a month including taxes. Now, it is less than $2.00 a month total. What a deal!

I do not see what this person is talking about. I have purchased 4 Majic Jacks for friends. No, 5. Everyone is happy. Works like a champ. Must be operator error. This should make the other VOIP companies drop their rates. Everyone in the VOIP business is a ripoff except for this new product. Fianlly a reasonable priced product. I just left the country with my MajicJack and it worked great. Totally clear calls. Get yours today!

Remember, you get what you pay for! I ordered 2 MJ units and received them within 3 days. I've installed both, one on a desktop and one on my laptop and they work great! Sure, they may be a bit choppy at times and may not be as clear as a traditional landline, but they are also hundreds of dollars less per year than standard landlines or cell phones! I'm amazed how many whiners there are out there! Perhaps the documentation isn't as complete as it should be, but I'd be willing to bet that the folks who complain the most are the ones who don't bother to read the instructions anyway. My compliments to the MagicJack developers and their staff. This is still a relatively new company and as the customer base grows, I'm sure improvements will follow. I bought my first cell phone in 1984 and the service was spotty and unreliable, but look at it now! For all you whiners and complainers out there, find a friend who knows a little bit more about computers than you do and have them give you a hand getting the product to work if you're having problems. For all the folks who are contemplating purchasing MagicJack -- Give it a try! For the $39 initial cost including a year of service, you won't be disappointed. I will certainly extend my service for the 5-year, $49.95 cost offered on their web site. And, for goodness sake, read the instructions -- do a Google search for help if you need. There are several folks who are satisfied customers and have listed their phone numbers and are willing to help you get your MagicJack product working! I give MagicJack two thumbs up!

I have a MagicJack, and have had it for a month. They didn't even charge me for the first month, so that I could check it out. It worked about 20 minutes after first plugging it in. The delay in the time is the initial setup, where they assign you your phone telephone number so that people can call you and leave voicemail messages, etc. I've even tested the 911 with the service and it works fine. I even bought a little phone to use with it in my laptop case from and it works great, too. Picture this, I can use my laptop in a hotel room, using my own wireless internet card through the hotel's Wi-Fi and the Magicphone STILL works perfectly! With my little phone out next to my laptop, I can make and receive calls to and from anywhere. It works just fine.

I have had Magac Jack for close to a year and i have never been happier with anything else that i have bought. I am about to pay my $20 for another year of service. $1.60 a month for unlimited phone with all the extras it does not get better than that. As far as it not working it went down twice for a short time but my regular phone did that and Magic Jack worked.
