I purchased a "registered" horse from Al Ziegler. That arrived at my farm with no registration papers, but he did include a health certificate. She is an approx. 17yr. old mare who is "kid broke" and in Al's words the perfect horse to put your office friends on that have never ridden before.  I do love this mare, however, she walks, trots, just fine but ask her to lope and she bucks. She is also very spooky and I would not put a kid or a beginner rider on her. He also took a pony and two minis from my place that day, which he gave me $50/pc off my purchase price of the mare he sold me. Then turned around and sold the pony for $2300. Him making money off this, is not the problem. How he made the sale of my pony is. As far as the horses being at his home for a 6mo. evaluation that is an outright lie.

I saw my pony on the website 4weeks later listed 6yrs. younger then the age he was given. It was also stated that she had been in numerous fun shows and trail rides. I specifically told him that she had done none of this and how many "shows and rides" can you possibly fit in  a 4 week time frame.

When I saw her on the website, I was mad that he had blatently lied about her age and training and I was worried that a child may get her that couldn't control her.

I would not purchase another animal from Al if you paid me. I have thought many times about reporting my encounter with him. A lot of it I have passed off as being a novice and now I have learned the hard way. The part that bothers me most is not that I was taken advantage of, that is my own fault.  All three of my horses crossed state lines with no Coggins testing and if he is not following the simplist of rules, what else is he not doing correctly?

If this is a 3rd generation business, then I feel sad that there may be a fourth generation that "sugar coats" the facts just to make money. Just beware and maybe before buying anything from Al go to his place and ride the animal first and make sure you know what you are getting.

I as well purchased a horse from him. The ad had his elderly dad on the horse and was listed as safe if you know the basics. I bought this horse for a lesson horse and was appalled at the behavior. First of all she had to be run into an alley to catch her otherwise she would deliberately run you over. You couldnt walk anothee horse past her stall without her attempting to bite him. She was no even close to beginner appropriate. Experienced riders only and she would kick up when she got mad and didnt want to lope. She was sold to very broke, she was basically a little better than green. She was sold to me across state lines with no coggins.
