Beware of Deck Guru of Sterling, Virginia. Bunmi, the estimator came to measure and give me a price. She went over what I wanted and came back again to go over what I expected. I noticed the workmen were packing up and a two by four was exposed around the apron of the seats. Very obvious. Larry, the contractor told me it was not included. I was under duress with a recent cancer diagnosis and compelled to go along.
Where would I find the material or a workman with the proper equipment? They wanted to charge me $500 plus. It looked terrible as one walked out of the house onto the deck. I complained to Larry the contractor who was by the way not an employee of Deck Guru. He took a before and after picture and sent it to Amy Crabill , a supervisor who replied, “That should have been done”. They were short only one piece of Trec.
She reduced the charge to $374. She would not return my calls for three weeks and finally texted me that the $374 would not be refunded. The company responded. David said it had nothing to do with an incomplete job, rather, I choose the most expensive decking material and the seats were more difficult to replace and took more time. That estimator was all over and under my deck. Everything was visible. There was no rotten wood.
