I have watched ads on tv from the International Fellowship of Christians and Jews.  They show pictures of old obviously poor Jews in the Soviet Union who need aid.  They ask for a donation.  I donated.  Subsequently, I received a request for another donation from them in the mail.  They included a picture of a young healty Jewish family who they  were able to get to Israel.  I was outraged because I was led to believe all donations were sent to help impoverished Jews in other countries, specifically the Soviet Union.  The picture of the healthy Jewish family who were able to immigrate to Israel pales in comparison to the need of the elderly they showed on tv.

This is the only site I could find where I could voice my concerns.  Thank you for providing it.

We have been involved in Israel working with Holocaust Survivors for 40 years. We are quite aware of IFCJ and their financial dealings. All we can say appropriately is there are other charities doing a great work where your money reaches the places and people promised such as Bridges for Peace, Christian Friends of Israel in Israel, and Helping Hand Coalition. We can't give IFCJ one star regarding endorsing their integrity or accountability.

Multiple ad buys for spots on Fox News (among other networks)

Unfair criticism of this charity.

There are multiple ads buys running for this charity featuring Yael Ekstein showing her comforting elderly Jews in the former USSR/Russia, and of food boxes being distributed to just about anyone needing it in Israel.  I've seen both ads played on Fox News (I don't know if there are ad spots on other networks as I don't watch CNN or MSNBC, etc.)

This past Christmas my boss who is based in Texas offered me a Grub Hub, and it was in US$ and he soon learned the gift card is unavailable in Canada.  I had previously purchased a Grub Hub for a co-worker that was out on short term disability in another state, and buying it was also a foreign currency disadvantage for me, which was also approved on one of my other cards despite being told the charge was declined.  So after all this drama of being billed twice in different converted amounts, and him finding out it would go to wate I told him to donate my Christmas gift to this charity, and I eventually did the same in Canada.

I thought about matching his gift as my fridge was full and my pantry runneth over; and having made a political donation that would reduce my provincial payable at tax time I felt even more guilty for what I hadn't done.  Sure there are other deserving charities out there that watch their overhead and others that do good but are overhead heavy and also local, but I felt compelled after this snafu in trying to buy this gift card for me that I really didn't need at the time.

To the lady in Virginia, watch for the ads on Fox News.  I typically see them weekdays when I get a chance to watch Tucker Carlson or Hannity in the evening hours of prime time.  Charities are usually multi-facited in the types of programmes they run, and this one is no different.

God bless
