This company is the biggest scam. They are NOT reputable movers and are Very unprofessional. We moved from Florida to a Dallas Texas. When the movers showed up they looked at our things and started Loading. They asked for cash. Fast forward 5 hours, this is where things got ugly.

They told us we were over by 500 cubic feet and more Then doubled our estimate. After going back and forth With them for almost an hour, we told them to unload the truck. This is where the hostility began. We were told that it would cost us money to have them unload it and that It was our fault for underestimating. I asked to go onto the truck and measure And we were told for "liability" it wasn't allowed. So wait, they want to charge me MORE than double my estimate and not even let me double check??!

Moving on, it is 10 pm and we eventually give them the extra cash and move on. Upon delivery of our items, we measured it and wouldn't you know, we were under the amount we estimated. So they lied to us, scammed us and even stole some items. We contacted the police and the FMCSA. Stay away... don't do business with these people.

They are unprofessional and will Scam you. Original quote for 1050 cubic feet $2900. They made us pay $6100 for 900 cubic feet.

By the way, I have seen many reviews receive a response that we must be mistaking them for another company and they do Not have record of you moving them, so not let these fool you with those fake follow ups! Jasmin "helped" us and John the manager was very unprofessional!!!

A legitimate moving company would probably have quoted you a 7300 pound move from Florida to Texas at about the rate you eventually ended up with (a little over $6K).  The problem with receiving ANY quote in cubic feet is that you are really at the mercy of the moving company - as they told you, there is no way to go onto the truck, or measure anything.

The reason, aside from the insurance, is that your cubic foot measurement won't count spacing between your furniture and other things as it's packed in the truck.  So when they tell you X number of cubic feet in the quote, the number assumes a vacuum with no space.

There is no way they can stay within the amount of cubic feet you're quoted.  So you go over and guess what, you pay a lot more than what you thought, because the mover can easily manipulate your cubic foot measurement and there's really nothing you can do about it.

Things to think about for those who may read this:

  • Legitimate moving companies do not quote in cubic feet - they use pounds.  They get a weight ticket when its empty (called the tare weight) and then they take the truck to the scale once it's full and get the weight ticket (gross weight).  The difference between gross and tare is what you are billed.  This way, they can be as efficient or as inefficient as they wish to load the truck - it doesn't matter.  Pounds are pounds.

  • Any moving company that quotes you in cubic feet should be eliminated from consideration.  If every company you contact quotes you in cubic feet, then start your search all over again.  And finally....

  • Stay off the internet when looking for a mover.  Instead, use the internet to determine how moving interstate works - it is unlike any other service you will ever use.

Moving is not an inexpensive venture.  Movers who quote you in cubic feet will always low-ball their quote to get your business, and then increase the quote by a factor of 2 or 3 when you are at your most vulnerable and no way to back out.  Seek out a mover local to you - companies like United, Atlas, Bekins, North American, Mayflower, and a few others should have an agency near you.  Have them come and provide a quote to you in pounds - the quote needs to be binding - the most you MAY have to pay over and above the quote is 10% - not 200% or 300%.

We contacted the police and the FMCSA.  Important information:  The police aren't going to do anything because it isn't a criminal matter.  The police will tell you it's a civil matter and to work the problem out with the mover.  The FMCSA is understaffed and are more concerned with movers who are performing illegal acts.  Unfortunately, what happened to you would not be considered illegal according to the Federal DOT and the FMCSA.  So they take the complaint and file it away.

Best of luck to you....
