As a result of using Harris Digital Publishing's web site and attempting to purchase a downloadable program I am now harassed by one of their affiliate companies: My Perfect Credit and 1st Credit of America.

The original download program which did not work, gave purchasers a thank you that was tied to My Perfect Credit whether you wanted it or not.

I have contacted all three credit bureaus and put a fraud alert on my file. Upon inspection of my report from Experian, I see that there is a company on the report named MPC VISA, stating that this is an extension of credit and is to remain on file until 3/2007.

WHAT? I never opened a line of credit through MPC VISA nor did I ever receive anything stating I have an account out there. This is the part that is scary. The company has an address in Ft. Collins, CO but no phone number. I tried calling information to obtain a phone number but they had no listing of the business.

I did a reverse address look up and there are a series of businesses at the address, but not one for MPC VISA. Why are credit bureaus not demanding phone numbers from businesses seeking info on me.

I have also gone back through my credit card statements and see that My Perfect Credit continued to bill me even after I faxed the "5 day right to term" notice as they suggested. I have never been able to get my refund back from either My Perfect Credit or Harris Digital Publishing.

I let the whole thing go chalking it up to my stupidity for trying to purchase a downloadable program from the internet site for Harris Digital Publishing in Deland, FL. This company is reason my name was even forwarded on to My Perfect Credit.

I like everyone else have been receiving calls daily. I tried calling but never am able to get through. I want to send a Cease & Desist letter to 1st Credit of America but don't know if I can since I have not been able to get through to them. Does anyone know if I can send the letter to the addresses but just use my phone number as the reference?

I have already sent complaints to a lot of place but am not hopeful that anyone will do anything. The credit bureau just said they would look into it.

I hope one of the agencies (FBI Ineternet Fraud, FTC) or office of one of Attorney General offices (FL, IL, NY, CA, CO) that have complaints takes these companies on. The little people need help.

REFUND Received

#2Author of original report

Sat, September 03, 2005

After filing reports with all the state AGs, BBB, Internet Fraud division I did recieve responses from both My Perfect Credit and Harris Digital Publishing for the original money each company charged my credit card. I did not however get a written response from My Perfect Credit. Harris Digital Publishing (Cyberspace to Paradise) did respond to the Orlando FL BBB complaint but stated that I never asked for a refund form. I am responding back advising that the only refund form that their web site gives is the one for My Perfect Credit which I never wanted any part of to begin with. Keep fighting everyone. These companies need to be shut down or at the very least they need to revise their web sites of all the round robin Q & A customer service links and just publish actual working numbers, with actual customer service skilled individuals, and to give up the pretaped canned responses.

One Refund down, two to go . . .

I finally received ONE refund for the original $29 I paid for a download from Harris Digital Publishing. This was the company that ends their emails to you with: "as a thank you for purchasing our products, here is a link for a FREE credit report" ... FOR GOODNESS SAKE DON'T CLICK on the link. As for My Perfect Credit responding to me regarding the "No Cancellation Fee, NO monthly Fee, etc" as listed on the web site. I still have not heard back from them on the the unauthorized charges. Again, this is another example of their "exceptional customer service". Exceptional CS -- No WAY!

#5Author of original report

Wed, August 17, 2005

My Perfect Credit makes every attempt to use deceit in advertising practices, offering POOR CS skills, and looks to pay their "affiliate" companies by collecting names of individuals who they can target in a few months when people are not suspecting. If the company was really offering exceptional CS then their web site and daily activities would consist of mailing itemized info to their "membership", have published telephone numbers which would be answered by legitimate individuals with knowledge and abilities to see the obvious -- send apology letters, and remove individuals from any and all lists in their data basis. If they want to stand by their "exceptional CS" then they would be reaching out to the masses of complaints in other ways then trying to reach us each through this web site, or our own personal email addresses. The second level of review which they mention is as lacking in common sense and proper business form. They use the same automated closed, never sign with a name and title -- no different then the 1st level of service. The company even goes on to close a complaint email by suggesting to the recipient that they should reconsider the membership. I feel I am very capable of reviewing their so called "exceptional CS skills" because I work for a coporation with an outstanding CS call center employing nearly 1,000 people in that call center. My call center is measured in depth by an outside agency whose responsibility is to see that our membership is truly happy, and their issues are being resolved in a timely well processed manner. This company had NO right to bill my credit card, or to maintain a supposed membership without first proving that a legitimate business relationship existed. I am not alone in my complaints. The CA BBB has found this company to have more complaints then is good for any business. How can a company say they have exceptional CS when the companies toll free number either rings busy continuously, or you get a prerecorded message to call their partner about any collections that are due. HMMM ... 1st failed part of a quality customer service center. All people have the right to deal directly with the originating company who is claiming a person owes them money. No published addresses, no phone numbers, shops closing and people relocating . . . HMMM 2nd failed part of a quality CS center. The bottom line is My Perfect Credit uses poor business practices, does not deliver on their promises, does not deliver on their goods and services, and goes on to continue to charge automatic deductions from accounts. They further make it nearly impossible for any one person to get through to cancel an account in a timely manner. When peopel do actually cancel they are only listed on a future list to have a so called "collection agency" call them with threatening remarks and illegal tactics. The complaints on this site should be stopping My Perfect Credit dead in their tracks if they really had any thought to do the right thing. There management, and their employees would be saying wait something is really wrong because there are too many people with the same problem. We must have something wrong with our policies, and business practices. My Perfect Credit does not have the legal capability to fix or repair anyones credit report -- only each of us can hold that responsibility thorugh review and dispute letter to the credit bureaus. I might have a different opinion on this rebuttal if the company did not have such a track record "for years" of utilizing deceit in advertising, and improper selling techniques. They should be on the horn with every major media outlet letting the public know they realize they have a serious problem in their system, and that they are working to fix it NOW. My Perfect Credit would also be more careful about the type fo business partnerships they contract with. 1st Credit of America is not helping the situation and is just showing the true colors of My Perfect Credit. It is a tough job to collect true debts, but I will tell you that every conceivable ill business practice is being taken with My Perfect Credit's partner 1st Credit of America. People in this country need to learn to forward more complaints to the proper authority so that eventually someone will stop all of this ill practice. My Perfect Credit CANNOT continue to do business as normal moving on to the next bunch of people on their list who might not know about this site. They are collecting on membership that does not properly exist and services that were never rendered.

MYPERFECTCREDIT My advice to you is: listen to your customers. I was also caught up in this, and was reported to the credit collectors for a balance that your company alleges that I owed prior to my account being closed. I called your company immediately after I found out what I was getting into. Free credit report? Yes, with some tangled spider web strings attatched. You first did not listen to me when I called and canceled my account IMMEDIATELY after getting through your web site. In your rebuttal, you say all we have to do is call your company and dispute and some kind of refund could be worked out? I did that the day after the creditors started in on me. YOUR company told me that I could not be helped because the MATTER WAS OUT OF YOUR HANDS, the creditors were collecting. This was no longer your problem. Yeah, well, with all of the consumer complaints to the BBB, AG, FTC, etc., from people like myself, THIS REALLY IS "YOUR" PROBLEM.

They Replied Again

#8Author of original report

An unsigned reply came to my continued request for the refund that is due to me for an unauthorized charge placed on my credit card AFTER the confirmation of the "free" trial being terminated. I cannot believe the nerve of this company STILL ATTEMPTING to enroll me into their "membership services"! Furthermore, the company continues to tout their ability to improve credit scores -- this simply is not so. They do not have the authority to do so. There is a way to pay for the services of improving your credit score, the services generally take a one time fee to help a person review all three credit bureau ratings and reports. The one time fee entitles the person to access the information for an entire year for one LOW fee. They help you stay focused on picking out incorrect data, then they help you compose a letter to the credit bureau to ask for them to update, or investigate. These letters however, MUST be signed by the person who the credit report is on. The hired agency CANNOT do this on your behalf. The ONLY item I agree with in the email reply from My Perfect Credit is: The U.S. Supreme Court has said that individuals are responsible for their Credit Report files maintained at the Credit Bureaus. This means YOU must dispute inaccurate, outdated or unverifiable items... Then what is My Perfect Credit claiming to be selling? I am continuing to see this company be held accountable. I absolutely do not want their service. ------------EMAIL Begin Copy------------------- X-MessageWall-Score: 0 (taconic.net) From: Support (5) (add) To: Subject: Re: Fwd: <[email protected]> <<#17407-148982#>> Date: Sun, 14 Aug 2005 14:33:53 GMT X-Mailer: Talisma NetAgent v.6.60.130 Content-Transfer-Encoding: quoted-printable Thank you for contacting MyPerfectCredit concerning your account. This letter will serve as a confirmation that your MyPerfectCredit membership has been cancelled. Your account is under review for credit. You will receive an e-mail to confirm if a refund has been issued. If a refund is issued, the e-mail will inform you as to how much you will receive. VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION YOU SHOULD KNOW! The Public Institute Research Group (PIRG) reports that 79% of adults in the United States have at least five (5) negative Credit Report items, per Credit Bureau, reported in ERROR! Your Credit, even with errors, can legally be used to turn you down for a job, credit and even insurance such as auto, life, liability, homeowners, and renters. According to the PIRG only one-third of all Credit Report disputes submitted to the Credit Bureaus are responded to or resolved to the satisfaction of the consumer. The national average FICO Credit Score is 678. However, if your Credit Reports were accurate, your score might be much higher. If you have a 610 FICO score (rated C-) and think that is OK or the best you can get at this time, then keep using the MPC system because your Credit Score might really be 690 (rated B+). The U.S. Supreme Court has said that individuals are responsible for their Credit Report files maintained at the Credit Bureaus. This means YOU must dispute inaccurate, outdated or unverifiable items. If you wait more than two(2) years, the Creditors and Credit Bureaus are not liable for damage you may incur as a result of their errors. There are over 30,000 Identity Thefts in the United States every day. If you have credit, you might soon be the target for illegal use of your Credit that could damage up to ten (10) years of your life. MPC has the only Credit Report based, offer and compromise Debt Relief program. The MPC prepaid VISA card has No Interest Rate, No Late Fees, No Annual Fee and can limit your exposure to on-line Internet fraud because it is not attached to your bank account or to an extension of credit. It also reports as a positive credit item on your Credit Report. She said on my credit report. I said, I didn't ask for any work on my credit report -- it is fine. She said it wouldn't be if I didn't pay up. When I asked for an address to mail a letter to her she said she could not give that out that I could fax it too them. Whose them I asked. She said 1st Credit of America. She asked if I would be willing to pay for this charge via phone, I said not until I get a printed letter/statement from them. She asked if I was refusing to pay and I said absolutely. I am not paying for something I did not buy. I have completed my CEASE & DESIST letter to the company and it will go out in the mail with a copy of the above email from My Perfect Credit. I won't let this die. I have already filed on-line complaints where I could but have not heard a peep from anyone. I am now going to send hard copy versions to my AG in NYS, as well as IL, CA, and FL. No one really mentions the state of FL -- this is the state that this whole mess has its roots in for me. Harris Digital Publishing is responsible and should be brought down so no other unsuspecting internet cruisers get caught in this scam web. Everyone, please keep on top of the AGs, FTC, IFCC, etc. Keep your reports coming to this great site too.
