I ordered a textbook through A1Techbooks on half.ebay.com. The book I wanted to by was specifically listed by them as being in stock. The exact words were: "Few left in stock, order now!" I ordered the book on 7/30/03 and provided my credit card number. I needed the book for a class starting the next week.

After three days, I checked the shipment status. It showed as "awaiting credit card authorization." I checked my credit card account online and it showed the approval having been done the same days as my order. I wrote an email asking about this and received no reply.

The status went from "awaiting credit card authorization" to "confirming" to "packaging" over 9 days. It showed being shipped after 8/8/03, by then my class had started.

After three weeks of waiting, sending another email and receiving no reply, I checked further into the company, beyond Half.ebay.com and found A1Techbook's website and found my order on there. I was dismayted to see that the actual ship date of the book was not 8/8/03, but 8/13/03. If I had known that I would have to wait nearly a month and my class to be half over before receiving the textbook, I would have gone elsewhere.

A1Techbooks instead chose to take my money and mislead me so that I would not cancel my order while there was time (two weeks before they even shipped the product, but making me believe I would receive it well before then).

The company should realize that students ordering their textbooks need them for classes. If the books come a month late (as many of the feeback statements on Ebay's site show), the students are left having paid for books that they cannot use for class. I spend time and money copying assignments from a classmate's book to be able to not fail.

Avoid this company, their feedback consistently show that they are very slow to send a book, or will cancel an order a week or two after appearing to confirm the order and complete the transaction. If you are a student, you'll be left scrambling for a way to come up with a book at the last minute (more likely at a higher price).
