On 6/8/04 I dropped off my car to Aamco Transmissions in Los Angeles, California. I first dealt with a service manager named Matt. He informed me that they need a $650.00 deposit to internally inspect my transmission. I was waiting for my rental car so I gave him my Visa debit card over the phone. He also asked for the last 4 digits of my SSN That I refused to give him.

The next day I was checking my bank account and was informed that my card number had been run through twice. I called Matt who denied this. During a coference call with my bank trying to straighten this out the Banker said to Matt and I, it was clear that it had been put through twice. After much hassle the second charge of $650.00 was reversed. This is only the begining. I never heard from " Matt" again.

On 6/14/04 I was called by " Dan" another service manager that my car was ready. Total charges 3295.82 I paid $2000.00 in cash and put the rest on my card . Guess what later that day my card was charged again!

We had not driven the car 4 miles when it began slipping out of gear and downshifting hard. We brought it back to Aamco and the car was at the garage for another 7 days. After daily inquires on the 5th day we were told that 2 valves that we were charged for had not been put in and they were having a problem getting the parts. I suggested that they pay for part of my car rental costs which were skyrocketing. I was told no but they would give me a free oil change for my trouble. I called corperate and spoke with Judy ext.355 and never had my calls returned after our initial conversation. I still have not been able to get a hold of her as of this date 6/26/04.

My car was returned again on 6/23/04 9 days later. I started the car and coolent began pouring out of my car and the engine was smoking. I called Aamco and my car was towed away. Luckily I still had the rental car. I was later informed that my Radiator had a large crack that it did not have when I dropped it off 15 days prior. I told " Dan " if it did I could not have driven it there in the first place. Dan said "Things Happen " and he would go in half with me to repair it. Another $150.00. Another unsuccsessful call to corperate.

I finally got my car back on 6/25/04. The interior of the car is covered in grease and the electronic seat control is broken and hanging by a wire. After seeing this I burst into tears. No detailing can get all of the grease of the seats, floor and ceiling. I called Dan again and was told " gee I really didn't look at it after it was done.

I was told by my regular mechanic that a new transmission for my car 1995 Ford Taurus. Should have only cost $2400.00 start to finish. So far my costs have been: $3290.82 for Transmmision work, $150.00 my half of new radiator, $582.00 Rental car costs. Seat and detailing TBD. My car was in the shop a total of 17 days. I feel ripped off. Help Me Please

The ford torazz, make a complaint to the B.A.R. OF THE STATE OF CALYFORYAH

Alicia~~~~you can make a complaint to the B.A.R.~~~OF THE STATE OF CALYFORYAH~~~The shop has to stay within a price structure that is competetive~~~That means~~if the cost of a "ford" remanufactured unit is less than what you were charged ~~the priced unit was overcharged~~~unless you had mounts/hose/ etc were nessesary to replace to make the vehicle operable. ~~~ask yorself this~~if it cost less to get another trans to replace it to have the same result~~why would the shop not offer this option to you?~~~It should be on your original paperwork a max price for the repair~~~~This is calyforyah law to be on the paperwork~~~The other issue of the broken switch/interior that you can take them to court about~~~the radiator may? have benn caused by the removal of the trans~~~I don't know!~~~~~The engine cradle needs to be removed and the engine suspended to remove the trans~~~If the radiator was broken on the top or the core was damaged due to the engine swinging into it~~~This could be a shop liability problem and also another cause for a small claims action.~~~~if at th very least you should contact the state to place a complaint if the price was out of line with what you got~~~~THE TRANZMN
