I had a very similar experience to the other fellow who reported on Aamco on this site (May 17th 2004). My transmission failed, and we were recommended to Aamco from Canadian Tire.

I will file a more detailed report shortly, but the short of it is: The prices were very high, the sales pressure got very extreme after the transmission was dropped from the car. Used parts were substituted for dealer remanufactured parts without my approval.

I don't like to say that this location did anything dishonest, but I went from trusting them to not trusting them within the same day.

I would like to hear from anyone who has had similar problems with this location as I am considering further action.

#2REBUTTAL Individual responds

Sun, October 03, 2004

Before closing this report I would like to respond to Wayne's stated "communication breakdown" statement as follows; there was no misunderstanding on my part with regard to his pricing on warranty or parts as his and my final signed documents confirm. I also physically attended his business on 4 occassions plus had many phone conversations with him and his employees. I leave it to you the consumer to decide as to what you believe in this report. We reached an agreement to close this report and as long as Wayne follows the agreed to terms this report will remain closed. Thank you .

Communication Breakdown

This matter has resulted in a mutually agreed upon settlement. The probem arose because our client misunderstood how we accomodated his price concerns when a lower price was offered to him. Since the price and warranty were reduced, used parts were substituted for remanufactured parts. Unfortuneatly it was not as clear to our client as it was to us as to what was being done to accomodate him. It would be a good idea in future for clients to physically attend our facility themselves when we invite them to do so. This would eliminate most misunderstandings since clients would see appropriate documentation that sometimes they question later on.
