I purchased a sofa and love seat from aaron's reluctantlly because we had recently moved into a house and our old stuff just would not work.

well we paid the payments on time for about 12 months or so then we had some unexpected thing occur which caused a financial strain on our budget as a direct result of this we were unable to pay all of our bills on time.

aaron's was a bill that we paid bi-weekly so sometimes it was a couple of days beyond the due date which they charged a 5.00 late fee for late payments.

after the account was paid down to around 400.00 (the total of the payments for the purchase was 2200.00 about 1 1/2 times the retail value)I called the store just as I have done each time we were late on the payment to arrange the bill, the accounts manager told me that he was going to have to come out and pick up the furniture until the single payment that we were behind could be caught up.

I asked why all of the sudden they could not allow us the time to make the payment even though we were not even a full payment behind .He told me that because of the history on the account he could not allow this payment just 14 days past the due date without picking up the furniture as security that we would make the payment nevermind the 30 payments we made before he just had doubt that we would make another?

I mean give me a break i've paid 1800 of the 2200 and now they cant trust me for 14 days?

If your thinking of buying from these guys think again. Don't put yourself through the misery and repeat hassle of dealing with Aarons

Tommy your point is very valid. The business had more than recouped it's money for the purchase and was in pure profit status. Rent or lease to own businesses count on the very situation that occurred to you - repossessing and reselling the merchandise. Your story is very common and it seems you have learned a valuable lesson. Rather than enter this contract, you should have purchased used furniture and recovered it with a sofa cover etc.

You had a long history of being late and they could have repoed your stuff any of the other times but chose to be nice. You took it for granted that they would continue. They really did nothing wrong. They have no obligation to let you slide on the payments.
