This company is so misleading its a shame. I went to Aarons to get a Dell Computer from them. The price for the computer was $1,126 if I paid it off in 90 days and $1,920 if I paid it off leasing it for 12 months ....so of course I took the 90 day route. Everything went fine the first 2 months as I made my regular monthly payment, which was about $165 ...so after 2 months I had already made 4 payments of $165 which cam to about $660 .....so about 2 weeks before my 90 day time period was up I asked what was my balance and I was advised $590 which is about $124 over what I was told I would pay ....

i asked the person on the phone to explain why is it higher than what I'm getting after I figure it should be about $466 ....come to find out ...the payment I was making includes a service fee of $13.99 and that is not counted towards your payout ...I'm a computer tech for the business I work for so I would never need that service charge ...so I also lost about $55 on previous payments I made ....I couldn't blame no one but myself because it was in the contract, but it was not thoroughly explained to me ...out of the $165 monthly payment I was making ...only $139 went towards the cash payout price, not to mention they didn't tell me that $1,126 was b4 taxes but the $1,920 price included taxes if I was to pay it in 12 months ...but the sales paper makes it look as if taxes are included in the 90 day pay out ....so actually the computer cost $1,227 after taxes which made me a disatisfied customer even more.

So after talking with the rep about an hr on the phone he stated that I should bring $572.22 to pay it off...when I got there to pay it off I was told I owe $586 instead of $572 ...not that its that much of a difference in price but its the principle and that mad me more mad than ever with that company ....I just told the rep to forget it and here's you money ...they can expect to never see me in there again. The only reason I went to them is because I didn't want to finance one through Dell ....and after buying the computer I found out that I could have gone through Dell for the same computer for only $700 ....so they are making money off high prices not to mention other BS fee's like the service fee I never used.....

Always read their contracts very closely

First off, you would think a "computer tech" for a compnay would pay attention to the agreement they sign and would not leave the store until it is completely understood. The "Aarons service plus" charge is a 10 percent charge on the lease rate of the product that covers paperwork processing, cost of delivery, includes 10.00 friend referal bonus's,future discounts on agreements, the benefit of the 90 day SAC program, and includes Aarons handling any service issues for the term of the agreement plus 60 days after the payout of the agreement. Of course Aarons makes a few extra bucks on the deal as well. If you went out and put that computer on your credit card, you'd pay one and a half to two times the cost of the product, just like at Aarons. Think about it, $1126.00 cash price..you pay your cc bill at 40.00 to 50.00 per month. Half that cc payment is the interest, you just don't see it in black and white because you just keep paying you cc bill each month. Also, if you buy a Dell computer with Aarons, Dell offers a 2 year warranty instead of the usual one year from them directly.(Look into this, I'm about 75% sure of this one) Aarons program is alot less expensive than other "Rental" companies out there. Of course they make a little extra money..all business's do but where else could you get an $1100.00 plus dollar computer for basic information like where you work, live and a few personal references?? Everything you purchase on "credit" cost alot more than the original price. Is this a surprise? Thanks for listening....

Your bad, not Aaron's fault

At my former location, service plus is manditory and not an option. Service plus is great for a lot of Aaron's customers...imo, especially computer customers. Besides, what you paid in service plus is a fairly trivial amount...I would say somewhere in the neighborhood of $40-$50. That's 90 days of coverage while you had the active agreement plus an addition 60 days of coverage after you payout. The plan also includes loaners and replacements during the above mention period of time. Beside the fact that the manager or asst. manager went over the lease agreement with you, you also had a copy of the agreement as a customer. As a former Account Manager, I think it's pretty safe to say that you didn't pay attention to the terms and conditions of your lease agreement. That's your fault, not Aaron's. I've closed thousands of deals and customers are very rarely concerned with what they put their "John Handcock" to. Most customer I've dealt with are only concerned about how much they need today and when can they get the product. I would guesstimate that 75% of the customer issues are because they fail to care about contents of the lease agreement, which they have signed. In the future, pay attention and ask questions. Also, a parting note. Aaron's is not out to "repo" everyone's merchandise. Aaron's has never made a dollar by picking up someone's merchandise

you could be wrong, terms of the lease are printed on the contract

The min. terms of the lease are printed on the contract and all patrons initial it. I have never seen anyone charged the service fee if they pay off in full in 90 days, and if they go past the 90 days they will be charged the arrons service plus fee, which covers such things as service warranties, relocation, payment holiday, 25-50% discounts on future purchases, as well as processing. And we do not file on any credit report,so how can we effect your credit.
