Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
What a terrible experience at Aaron's Rent and Lease in Concord NC my family had today and I'm afraid my three children will never get over!

My wife and I had been talking for several weeks about treating ourselves to a new bedroom suite, and since we had done business with Aarons before, we would go there again since we had liked there payment plans. For the record I had purchased a livingroom suite, a big screen TV, and a freezer from them over the last several years with no problems.

We arrived at the Concord store at about 2:45 pm on Saturday, 11/03/07. We looked around and found a bedroom suite that we were interested in and at approximately 3:10 pm one of the salespeople came to help us. We showed her the one we wanted and proceeded to get our information (which seemed odd since I had maded several purchases there before) and went to process the information, which was fine with me. After the sales clerk had the paperwork done she informed me the payment would be $187.86 per month, and to have a seat in the office and the manager would be with me in about 5 minutes.

During this time my yougest daughter of 5 years old had made a friend in the store and they were walking around. After about 20 minutes of me waiting in the office my wife came and told me that the little girl my daughter was with had just come screaming to her mother that she had broken a lamp. As soon as the little girl told her she and her daughter left the store. Right behind her was my daughter telling my wife that her "new freind" had broken a lamp. My wife didn't think much of it since she had went back to see what happend and saw that the base of the lamp simply came off.

Right after this my wife and three children were sitting in the office waiting to sign the paperwork for our new bedroom suite. By 4:30 the manager, Michael D. Johnson finally walked in. Keep in mind that we have been in the office for over an hour, and without even saying hello said "so your daughter broke a lamp!". My wife explained to him that it was not our daughter that had done it and what had happened with the other girl. Mr. Johnson turned at us and said "well someone's gonna pay!" and walked out.

Now my wife, two daughters and son were shocked, my two daughters started to cry, so my wife took them outside of the office. My wife watched Mr. Johnson at the cash register for the next 25 minutes taking payments from customers. During that time he said to the other employee's "I'll get them to pay" and "I don't care who did it".There were at least 15 customers in the store. My wife was shaken by the store managers approach to this and was visably shaken by the accusations that Mr. Johnson had made. Now come's the horrible part...

The store was scheduled to close at 5pm. At 4:58 pm I was still sitting in the office waiting to sign the paperwork for the bedroom suite when Mr. Johnson finally walked back in. I asked him if we could get the paperwork done since my family was waiting outside and all he said was "As soon as you pay for the lamp." I asked him if he had spoken to the other girls mother and he said "no, they left." I asked him if anyone else had seen this happen and he said nothing. I asked him if they had security cameras to review this and he told me " we don't have camera's in the store." Still wanting to get the bedroom suit I asked him if we could get the paperwork done for that and he said "as soon as you give me $105.00 for the lamp your brat broke!" Seeing this was going nowhere I gave him the money, asked for a receipt and left the store.

When I got to the car, my wife and two daughters were crying, being accused of something they had never done and basically being called liars. My 5 year old told me tonight "I never want to go to a store again!" and "I'll never trust anyone again!".

I called Mr. Johnson when I got home at about 5:20pm. I tried to re-explain what had happened. He said "I don't care as long as it paid for." After he told me that I told him that since I had paid for it I wanted the broken lamp and he said "good luck if you can find it in the trash" and then hung up on me.

So now I have no bedroom suite, no lamp, no $105.00, a daughter that is now afraid to go to a store and a family that will live in terror of dishonest store managers. We'll never get over this experience.

The following is a statement given from the General Manager of the Cocnord, NC location. It seems there is video surveillance of the event. If after reviewing the GM's statement Mr. and Mrs. A--- have any other questions please feel free to contact our Divisional Office at 704-845-5064. We would be happy to address any concerns at that time. Kay Zaccardi VP Assistant Aaron's Sales and Lease Mid Atlantic Division In response to the incident on 11-3 in which a lamp was broken, working in the store that day was me, Antoine (SM) and Lisa (CSR). Going from the clock on the security camera which may be off from daylight savings, Mr. A--- entered the store at 2:52, at the time we were already dealing with 3 different sets of customers. I went into a closing at 2:57. Twan was in the warehouse getting #'s for mattress sets for the customers he was helping, at 2:59 on the way from the warehouse to the bull pen, Twan briefly stopped and spoke to Mr. A---, he told him just looking right now, Twan told him would be back with him soon as he could b/c helping a few people up front. At 3:03 cust T. Shue enters store, straight to bull pen Twan began helping her w/questions as he was typing up previous cust., then he directs her to look around and we'll be w/her soon as possible. I come out of closing room at 3:05 and pull sales team into cam office and have 5 minute discussion about the prorated due date issue and importance of having discussion of 1st payments and due dates w/customers. Came out of Cam customers all around bull pen, Mr. A--- walked up around bull pen, Lisa told him be right with him, about 3:10 Lisa walked toward back of showroom w/Mr. A--- to look at some bedrooms. At 3:15 I went into another closing, Mr. A--- sat down to fill out order form at 3:18 and at the same time youngest daughter began running around store unsupervised. At 3:20 another couple came into the store also with a young daughter, soon after Mr. A--- youngest daughter began running around whole store with this couples' daughter, back and forth around the whole store. The whole time he has yet to say anything to his daughter. I come out of closing at 3:25, by 3:30 he has still yet to say anything to his daughter. He finishes his order form at 3:33, I was staging a 48" going out same day, he was at the bull pen, his wife sitting by computer area, and daughter still running throughout entire showroom. As I come from the warehouse, I'm met by a couple just entering store, I greet them and they inform me that they want a blue couch that reclines w/matching recliner and I happened to have the pre-lease BVA in the warehouse to fit their needs, so I turn around and we go right back to warehouse to show them the set. Meanwhile, Lisa is still helping Mr. A--- at the bull pen b/c we didn't have the inventory available that he wanted but C0965 did and we had to do a blank agreement so it took a little longer than usual for Lisa to get file and paperwork together. At 3:37 Lisa completed file, and had Mr. A--- enter into the closing room. His daughter and the other little girl are back in the bedroom area jumping and playing on top of the beds. His daughter is on the middle bed and the other girl is on the LM6 bed on the left. Camera view clearly shows Mr. A--- daughter come down off the middle bedroom over to the LM6, push the other little girl into the lamp causing the lamp to fall off of the nightstand, thus breaking the lamp. It was because Mr. A--- daughter pushed the other girl that the lamp broke. During this time, Lisa is walking back toward the bedroom area with another customer and witness the whole thing go down. At 3:38 Lisa came to the warehouse and informed me of what happened, and that Mr. A--- daughter was still running around store. At 3:41 I am stopped on the way to bull pen by customer just walking into store, I speak to him briefly then head to the counter where I was told another customer was waiting for me with questions about a non-renewed account. During this time is when the other couple, with the daughter playing with Mr. A--- daughter, left the store at about 3:43. A t 3:48 I go into the closing room with where Mr. A---, his wife, and son await, his daughters were still on showroom still running around. I asked Mr. A--- if it was his daughter that was involved in the lamp being broke, and he replied that his daughter told him that it was the little girl in the pink shirt. I asked him was he sure because my CSR told me that she seen his daughter push another girl onto the bed and broke the lamp. He said no. I told him that I would be right back in. I went back out to bull pen, was stopped again by customer that had just came in prior to me speaking w/ Mr. Adams, and he told me he wanted to take the 37" lcd with him and he had cash. I wanted to handle him b/c the purchase was over $1000 and he had all $20's, and I wanted to make sure they were all real. I went into office, counted them, marked them, took care of him and the lady at the counter was the with her daughter in a pink shirt. I asked her about the incident and she said her daughter had been with her the whole time. I asked Lisa again if she was sure that she seen Mr. A--- daughter, and again she explained the whole situation and was sure it was his daughter. I go back in closing room and tell him that my csr was sure it was his daughter, and he said it couldn't have been because he was keeping and eye on her, then stopped in the middle of his sentence and asked "well just how much is the lamp and I'll pay for it", while pulling out money. I told him how much it was, he gave me the money and asked for a reciept and told me he did not want to get the furniture anymore, I gave him that. He then asked if we had any security cameras and I did not tell him that we didnt have any, I told him that the cameras did not go back that far, not knowing at the time that it actually records the corner area of the bed in question. Mr. A--- then left the store at 4:02

After that manager accused your kid, you should have just got your family together and left the store. 187.00 a month is too much for a bedroom set anyway!!!!!
