I FINALLY got my vehicle to pass emissions. Yesterday the truck would not start. Acted like a bad starter and dead battery. So I replaced both. Truck would not start, so I had it towed back to GO Chevrolet for service.

Today I received a phonecall stating the engine in my truck had blown, and would need replaced. It is currently at GO Chevrolet awaiting repairs. The warranty company ABC provided me with refused to cover any repairs.

Faulty emissions system. Faulty engine causing emissions failure. Repairs/claim denied by seller/provided warranty company to make vehicle smog legal. Contacted ABC Auto on 03/13/2012 concerning my recent purchase of an 2002 Chevrolet Suburban 1500. truck was sold to me by ABC Auto with "plugged catalytic converters", and further inspection revealed an intake manifold vacuum leak causing the emissions system failure. Both catalytic converters and the intake manifold will need replaced to make the vehicle smog compliant.

ABC Auto provided me information on 03/13/2012 for Elite Warranty who warranties ABC Auto's vehicles for 90 days after purchase. Suburban was taken to Meineke in Brighton, Co on 03/13/2012, where the initial problems were discovered, and a gentleman named Jeremy (last unknown) shop phone number 720-263-0974, suggested I take the vehicle to a Chevrolet dealership to accurately diagnose the problem with the emissions system.

Kelly Condray with GO Chevrolet, phone number 303-428-5656, confirmed that the catalytic converters were bad, and that the intake manifold vacuum leak was the cause of the failures. Elite Warranty was contacted by Kelly Condray on 03/14/2012 by GO Chevrolet Dealership service department to cover repairs needed to vehicle summing up to over $4000. Elite Warranty refused to cover any of the faulty emissions equipment on the vehicle, as well as refused to repair the problem causing the emissions failure.

ABC Auto was contacted again by myself on 03/16/2012 of the entire situation, and a representative (name unknown/not provided) claimed to have contacted Elite Warranty themselves, and Elite Warranty denied that any claims were called on behalf of my 2002 Suburban and it's repairs.

ABC Auto was provided with the contact information on both service centers, and ABC Auto did not follow through with either shop. I simply want my vehicle repaired and reliable, or my money refunded so that I may purchase a legal motor vehicle to drive daily.

The Colorado DMV notes the bill of sale "must show the buyer's name(s), purchase price, vehicle identification number, year and make of the vehicle, date of sale and must be signed by the seller(s)." If the buyer lives in an area in which emissions testing is required, the SELLER must provide the buyer with a current emissions inspection certificate.

I've worked on cars all my life, but I'm not a mechanic.I'm having a problem with the blown motor.Have you ever heard of the old potatoe trick? You take a potatoe just alittle bit bigger than an exhaust pipe and push it in to the pipe and the vehicle won't start.Well the exact same thing happens when the converters are clogged,it just won't let the exhaust out,so the motor won't start.I have never had this happen but I could see if it was so clogged and did start that it might blow a head gasket. But if it was that bad it would not have started in the first place.

As far as emissions, any thing wrong at that end will only cause you to fail, bad fuel mileage, but nothing that bad for big motor problems, and of course you should be seeing check engine light.

Also something else that bothers me,I haven't heard of a converter clogging in a lot of years. They are a very expensive item, maybe that's why it clogged.

Wish you the best of luck and God Bless.
