Complaint Review: ABM INDUSTRIES INCORPORATED - ABM SECURITY - FRESNO California

I really needed a job so I felt compelled to take the job with these people. They had a cramped office on the south end of a No Tell Motel here in Austin and their uniforms looked like they had been used for toilet paper and THAT was what they were issuing people. They had the security contract for a big high tech corporation APPLIED MATERIALS in Harris Branch and they issued me a uniform with undetermined stains that I could not get out that I had to sew together because the threads had ROTTED and I had to wash because it was so d**n filthy! The only reason I didn't tell them to take their FILTHY RAG of a UNIFORM and stuff it was i was PROMISED that after 90 day PROBATION I would be getting company-paid health,medical, dental and vision insurance paid for by the company. Wow! NEVER HAD THAT BEFORE FROM A PRIVATE SECURITY CONTRACTOR --but in CALIFORNIA, I hear that security guard contractors can NOT get away with even a tenth of the stuff they do in Texas. I hoped these guys would not learn how MUCH they could get away with exploiting us here. I went to work early and the in-house director of security was some prissy Nellie with a tanning bed all over tan, frosted hair, tattooed eyeliner and HE told me that they had issued me the wrong uniform. And with the withering sarcasm that only a Nellie Queen has, he proceeded to attempt to destroy me and my self-confidence and any hope I had of staying there. The site supervisor was some lazy, entitled white dude who had one of those Sony WATCHMEN small TVs and he pawned me off to someone else to show me what to do. It was like Dell security. Look clean, Smile a lot. Don't know a lot. Just be seen which meant being on your feet almost constantly. I did not care for the impersonality of the clean room wear that those poor people had --like burkkahs or something. I was really knocking myself out with the smiles --almost as much as a politician in election year -- until one of the supervisors in the Clean Room called me over and told me that everyone he had seen who had been a uniformed guard for these people was GONE after 80 days and there was only ONE uniformed guard who lasted and she was a Hispanic lady who came from an old family and was connected with the local political party and influential people on the City Council which had approved huge tax deferments to bring the jobs into this city in the first place. He said they were giving her hell but she was the ONLY one. Sounded like the DIRTY TRACKS that Wackenhut security pulled with Oracle and Dell...AND that the STATE OF TEXAS GENERAL SERVICES pulled on the temporary security workers they hired until DPS could get their own crews trained to replace us with... Been here and done that. So I smiled a little less and busted my a*s a little less and then I went to read the guards' daily/ nightly logs that had been written and ---to my non-surprise --there were no reports that went beyond 90 days at least not by the same person. THAT WAS ALL THE PROOF I NEEDED THAT THESE PEOPLE WERE LIARS AND THE USUAL RIP OFF CROOKED PRIVATE SECURITY GUARD CONTRACTING SCUM seeking new victims. As soon as the sun came up, I deliberately lingered to talk with the Hispanic lady and I have never seen a person so consumed by STRESS. They were making her life a LIVING HELL but she stuck it out. She confided in me that she had a BLEEDING ULCER caused by ABM SECURITY. I changed my clothes in the restroom and I took that uniform back and I RESIGNED after JUST ONE NIGHT! And the clueless IDIOT from CALIFORNIA asked me WHY I HAD QUIT AFTER JUST ONE NIGHT. I came back later and got my check and IF he is still working there, IF he managed to make it through the 90-day MINEFIELD and IF he even gave a d**n, HE CAN READ THE REASON HERE. It's been two years or more and TRUTH IS MY DEFENSE! You can't fool an OLD FOOL who had been there and done that and been BADLY RIPPED OFF! ABM is ANOTHER SORRY COMPANY!!!!
