Dave Weinstien's Absolute Scam

I am writing this for all the new recruits that seek employment each week in Brandon and Clearwater, FL from Dave Weinstien. Don't be roped into his lies unless you have several weeks to work door to door for free. I will stick to the facts and just tell you what I do know.

  1. It's door to door sales for ADT Security

  2. The owner is Dave Weinstien

Dave's Promises:

  1. Bonuses during training for the highest sellers in the class that are in the thousands

  2. 401K and Health Benefits in the recruiting ad

  3. Direct deposit for sales commision

  4. Gas cards for bonuses

Dave's Claims:

  1. That he is a millionaire

  2. That you can make thousands a year working for him (I won't quote a number because I am sure that is ever changing as is the bonus promises)

  3. The first week you make manager's commission at 280 per sale

  4. After the first week you make 225 per sale

  5. You get paid AFTER installation. Not sure how long after your sale installs because I haven't met anyone that actually got paid yet.

  6. Absolute Security Scheduling handles the installation schedule, not ADT.

Dave's Requests:

  1. To learn the scripts sell to family and friends the first week (also may help you win that bonus)

  2. Walk the streets door to door and sell security systems

What I know now to be True:

  1. Bonuses are a non-existent incentive that encourages new hires to sell to family and friends in desperation to make a few thousand dollars quickly.

  2. His office has a high turn over rate because salesmen do not get paid in a timely fashion. 3-5 weeks without a penny from Absolute Security is disheartening to anyone.

  3. He has no current sales people only a few unpaid managers that are owed too much to give up and walk out.

  4. The managers have only been there for 3-5 weeks, have not been paid bonuses or for their first sales either

  5. When you do get sales and the installation is scheduled in the computer for a certain day you can call scheduling and they do not seem to be scheduled. Notes on accounts like Dave Weinstien is handeling it personally instead may be found which doesn't help explain to customers when they should be home for installation.

  6. A certain manager sold to his significant other the first week he was employeed. This manager three weeks later has not been paid for this sale and the security system has not been installed.

  7. When Dave says you won't believe the bonus I give you if you close another sale today he does not mean a monetary bonus

  8. There are no gas cards handed out

  9. The rules for the bonus or contest are ever changing and when you ask Dave about it he skirts the question and tells you that you will get paid for your sales after the install.

  10. You have to pay for your own background checks which take 25 dollars off your sale. Not that you are going to see that money anyway.

  11. You owe 40 per shirt if he ever gives you one.

So before you buy the dream Dave's selling ask yourself this:

  1. Can you live at least a month with no paycheck while walking the streets selling for Dave until 9pm some nights?

  2. Can you look past the fact that there is no bonus?

  3. Who gets the commission for the sales for all the people that sold to their family and friends or to strangers to get a bonus and quit because they never got paid?

  4. Who actually has health insurance or a 401K plan with Dave?

My theory:

  1. Dave Weinstien recruits a class of people expecting them to quit, dangles bonus dreams to get them to sell and starves them until they quit and he collects the commission on all sales.

  2. If he has a few salesmen hang on he makes them managers and they help train the recruits in hopes that someday they will get paid since they have too many sales and too much time invested to just walk away.

  3. Installation is postponed until after an employee quits.

  4. The only benefactor of any sales you make is Dave.

  5. I believe this is fraud and if he's a millionaire why can't he pay out bonuses and pay for sales?

I just want to prevent anyone from being scammed, evicted, not having food, empty gas tanks, borrowing from family and friends to survive just to line Dave Weinsiens pockets. He is a man with no respect for the human condition. He is insulting and rude and only cares about his bottom line. But if you are trying to lose weight you will walk several miles a day and you will not be able to afford decent food. So if you are looking for a tyrant personal trainer Absolute Security is a great deal. If you are looking for a paycheck find a paying job.

I am not sure how they treat you in VA but my post was factual regarding the Absolute Security in Florida.  It was not the absense of hard work or sales like you suggest.  Not getting paid was a fact.  I investigated heavily before posting on Ripoff Report.  Your experience may have been different but the people that I interviewed in Florida all told the same tale.  The sales were not canceled since the homeowners were calling wondering where the security system was.  If you did not read my complaint - please re-read.  Investigations went as far as verifying with the homeowner and the scheduling department.  There were several sales and no one was paid that I interviewed at the time.  Your experiece may have been different in VA, but make no mistakes I am not a disgruntal ex employee.  I actually looked into this company for over a month in great detail and have no emotional ties to this story.

I'm currently an installation technician working for Absolute Security, based out of Richmond (Ashland) VA.  I came from another company that I won't mention and it was insane.  Customers cancelled constantly, usually on my way to the job because no one would call and tell me the customer cancelled.  Absolute is a 180 degree switch from that.  In regards to sales people working on commission, of course there's going to be high turn around.  That is with ANY sales job, period!  Perhaps you have been living under a rock, or didn't pay attention in orientation, but Absolute is a DEALER for ADT, I know they covered that when they hired and trained you.  Another fact is there are 100's of ADT dealers in the country.  They've been doing it since the early 90's if I recall.  As far as getting paid on time I have no experience with that because I always get paid correctly and on time.  As far as not getting paid until a system is installed, well yea, no crap!  It could be done one of two ways.  You could get paid upfront on the sale and then have it not go in, and the commission taken back from you, or you can wait and make sure the install goes in.  I can tell you that they don't want to wait to have it installed because that gives the customer longer to think about it.  If they can't get the customer to commit to the next day or second day after being sold then yea that stinks, but it's how it goes.  Door knocking, and sales in general is not for everyone.  Like I said as far as being paid on time is concerned I can't speak on that, but everything else would apply to anyone in sales.  Absolute security and any other company out there is there to make a PROFIT.  They aren't going to write you checks as a sales person just to go knock on doors.  You have to work for it.  A commissioned sales job is just that, COMMISSION!
