I accepted a number of assignments for this translating services company. I always delivered on time. At first, I had to jump through hoops to be paid, and payments always arrived late, and after I threatened action.

As of May, they have completely suspended payments, and are not returning my calls. They have the galls to send me request for other gigs! I have called several times and they are now ignoring my request for payment, though they have admitted owing the money. I sent a certified letter, which was returned as undeliverable (they are not at the address posted on the website).

Today I called from a different phone # and Juliette Dinh answered, not expecting me. She once more stated she would "check on the status of the payment" (since May) and I told her I would need a credit card number to at least hold the payment until I get a check. She simply hung up on me.

This company will run a series of small balances and then scam the workers out of their money.

Though it's true that I received final payment from Adapt Linguistic, as Ms. Dihn states, the payment arrived only a week ago (mid-October) for work occurred between February and May.

Additionally, Ms. Dihn states that the delay of payment came because of incomplete translations. This is patently untrue. As the attached email shows, I was told of an error on THEIR part and made myself available to help them out. This happened in August, and the reality is that they still did not pay.

Additionally, in my numerous attempts to collect the fees due, I was never told that they were waiting on "problems to be resolved", but that payment had been issued, and they would "check into why it had not reached me yet".

Here is the exchange regarding the alleged incomplete work:

Juliette; I was never given the file "Italian Wii Terminology" (I will fwd you the email I received) or I would have used those terms. This requires me to go back and retranslate, and I will need to fit it in to other deadlines. When is this due? Best Matteo

Subject: issue with translation

Hi Matteo, We are having problems with getting the LIT manual translations through Nintendo's Lotcheck process. I am sending the comments we are getting back from our client having to do with the manuals.

I have already changed the specific requirements they have sent, but I am worried about their comment that these are "Some examples" and the feeling that there may be more problems with translations that could hang us up.

Though I sent the Nintendo Terminology spreadsheet earlier, it seems that the specific language requirements were not followed. I stripped the essential wording out of the doc and I am now sending those as individual language docs. This terminology is required by Nintendo. Please can you fix this issue on the manual and insert the track changes option in word in order to see what has been fixed? Thanks for sending us the file asap. Paid - Incorrect information from Matteo

Matteo worked with us for about a year and have always received his payments. We received some issues with his translation which delayed payment on our side from our client.

Matteo has been paid after all but did not co-operate and help us finalize the project and resolve all issues with his translation. This raised many concerns in our side but we have nonetheless always finalized all his payment.

Our office has expanded and we just moved to northern California, we are a legitimate business and have always paid our translator, even in cases where the translation was very poor.

The information provided from Matteo is incorrect due to payment delay.

Regards,

Juliette
