My hours got cut drastically at work and I didn't want to get behind in my bills and family and friends (who I helped in the past) were not able to help me. I went online searching for a loan company and I found cash advance.  I was desperate and I guess I didn't do enough research.  "Daniel Smith" told me to put 150 on a moneypak card to show him that I would be able to pay back the loan (6,000).  The strange thing was he had an Indian accent with an American name- I must have been high on something not to realize that. Each time I got a moneypak,  "Daniel" kept saying I needed to pay taxes. I know I can see my deceased mother waving red flags all around me. I just wanted to get caught up with some of my bills. 2 weeks ago, "Daniel" called me to say that the check was ready, but I needed to pay 350 for the merchant because my account with his company had closed.  I know my deceased mother at this time wants to strangle me with the red flags. I had a lot of plans for that check- guess what, it never came. His phone number 518-768-7255 just rings and I'm sitting in my apartment with doodoo on my face, trying to figure out what to do next. Since I gave my money away, maybe I should become a philanthropist.

We all know that life wasn't always going to be peaches and cream. You know I'm not really angry or bitter, just sad how our society has become towards each other, as if being mean or scamming people is fun. These scammers don't see the aftermath they cause- being late with rent or car payments,  negotiating with the light and gas companies to keep everything on, your emotions are turned upside down and  you don't want to tell your friends who told you not to do it in the first place. For now,  my trips to bath and body works will  be put on hold until I get myself  back on track.  I wish you well and good luck

I think your mother would be a BIT more understanding then YOU want to give YOURSELF credit for. EVERYONE has financial troubles at some point in their life. Even your mother had to face them. So don't beat yourself up TOO MUCH!!!! Ok you can beat yourself up a LITTLE!!! But ONLY a little. YOU cant really hold yourself accountable BECAUSE you had no idea that this type of scam happens. A little tip to remember, NO LEGITIMATE LOAN COMPANY WILL EVER ASK FOR UP FRONT MONEY!!!! Its HOW loan companies get paid for what they do!! I will give you a HORRIBLE example. It will kill two birds with one bad story. Lets say YOU needed money. Since YOU don't have the greatest credit on the planet, probably somewhere like mine, YOU go to say a payday loan or even worse, a TITLE LOAN company. So you take out however much YOU are going to need. YOU sign the paperwork, usually WITHOUT READING IT, and go on with your life. Now YOU start making payments of roughly $200-$300 bucks each month. Lets say for this exersize that YOU have paid THEM for a year. Now YOU go to them and ask how much of the loan YOU would have paid back by that point in the loans life. THEY will tell you MAYBE $50 was paid off. Now YOU are sitting there doing math in your head trying to figure out HOW after paying all this money over a year, HOW is it that YOU have ONLY taken $50 off the PRINCIPLE. The truth is that YOU would have been paying ONLY the INTEREST!!!!! THAT is how legitimate loan companies get paid. The interest YOU pay on ANY loan you get. I use TITLE loans to illistrait my point for two reasons. Firstly, title loans are OUTSIDE the normal loan procedure so YOU the person who cant get a loan from a bank, CAN get a loan from them but at a MASSIVE interest rate that would cause even the stoutest person to cringe. And Secondly, to show YOU were REAL loan companies ACTUALLY make their cash. Don't feel TOO BAD about this!!!! Unless YOU have spent time on a website like RoR YOU wouldn't have known about the GREEN DOT SCAM!!!! Its VERY common to see here. I actually applaud YOUR honesty!! Its VERY RARE here!!! YOU were concise and honest and didn't try to make up crap to make yourself look like a better victim. THAT ALONE gets you kudos with me. I know THAT MEANS NOTHING, but YOU should take a moment and be proud of yourself FOR your mother. In the future, DONT DO FINANCIAL STUFF ONLINE!!!!! How do YOU think they got YOUR information?? They scrapped the web site YOU USED to find a loan!!! Scrapping is in effect a "copy" of the information submitted to the site. So while YOU think your safe online, it is as far from the truth as those scammers are from being honest. If YOU need money, STAY OFF THE WEB!!!!!! Don't become MORE of a victim by buying into the pitch!!! If YOU need a loan then RESEARCH it online and stick to phones and fax machines. THOSE are a lot harder to get information from. The ONLY advice I can give you is USE COMMON SENSE!!!! I know to most people it truly IS a superpower. But I have gotten through this life with a MINIMUM of getting screwed over BECAUSE I use common sense. If something looks to good to be true, then odds are IT JUST AINT TRUE!!!!! All those sayings your mother had for YOU growing up, well REVIEW THEM!!!! Because RIGHT THERE is the common sense that YOU need. Just because she is gone doesn't mean that she cant help YOU with your life NOW!!! Good Luck!!!!!
