Afni, Inc Collection for 1,694 dollars under a name I haven't legally had since I was 15. Bloomington Illinois
I received a letter today stating I owed $1694.73 to Verizon North Inc from Afni. The phone number comes from my old hometown. I haven't lived there since 2002.
Regardless of that fact the only phone service I have EVER had in my name, is a pre-paid cellphone with Virgin Mobile. There is also the fact that they sent it to me addressed with a name I found out wasn't actually my name when I was 15.
Verizon is closed right now. I was calling them first to see if there was even an account registered with them. I have never really dealt with something like this. Should I still write them and claim this collection debt as fraudulent?
Should I bother with their website? Should I still call Verizon? What are the best steps to take?
