Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I am a student scheduled to start at AIU Online on 4/23 - during the financial aid process - i didn't qualify for the private loans to pay for my $30,000 TUITION! I cannot get anyone to call me back now, respond to my emails, or listen to me in general.

In the beginning, they called me 5 times a day to tell me "let's get going with this, and "we can do this today". Well after giving in the to the high-pressure tactics, the Financial Aid Department will not give me back my $50 fee for application, they will not acnowledge the fact that I don't have an extra $130 a month to pay out of my pocket for tuition, they will not CANCEL my registration and I am horrified by what I have read on this website. I had a gut feeling right from the beginning that there was something wrong with this whole situation.

This institution knows that I am a single mom of two, disabled, and living on about $500 per month. I CANNOT AFFORD any extra payments for anything.

My friend enrolled just shortly after I did and had a very similar experience. As soon as she tried to cancel, her Admissions Advisor would not take "NO" for an answer. He said "well, let's talk about this", and generally would not listen to anything she had to say.

Can someone out there help us with some kind of recourse. I haven't actually attended classes yet, and I don't plan on it. I will not attend the orientation which is scheduled for 4/13, they shipped out my books, even though I haven't qualified for the financing, and won't acknowledge any phone calls or faxes or letters, nothing.

First I couldn't get them to stop calling, now they won't return a phone call, they just keep sending me faxes about the documents I need to complete.

CAN ANYONE HELP ME WITH THIS? I am very upset about all of this, and any advice anyone could offer would be of great comfort.

UPDATED 4/11/06 - After posting my reporr on Rip-Off Report.com, I filed a complaint with the Better Business Bureau against AIU Online. I searched for the name of the person to contact through the BBB search engine and Emailed a request for cancellation and a refund of my monies paid to AIU. In my email to the Compliance Officer, I attached a copy of my Case number and written complaint filed with the BBB. A few hours later I received an email back informing me that my enrollment had been cancelled as of today with the time stamp, that I do not owe them any future monies, and they are refunding my application fee. So I guess the moral of this story is, file your complaint with the BBB, because they already had 176 complaints filed and they are on probation with the agencies that oversee colleges and their practices and behavior. DON'T GIVE UP - BE PERSISTENT! I also received a phone call from an upper level administrator who told me that she was not aware of any of this going on. I told her about the situation and she apologized and I thanked her for her call and for the confirmation of cancellation and the refund of my application fee.
