I was extactic when I was able to open up my first milage credit card. Alaska Airlines through Bank Of America offered me 20,000 miles just to open an account. There was an annual fee of $75. I was not too thrilled but decided to go for it. When I spoke with the customer service rep she stated if I wanted to do a balance transfer. I stated that my other credit card DOES have a balance at a farily low interst rate of 7.98%. The rep stated that if I transfer the balance I would get 1 point per $1.00. I agreed it did not sound good and thought I could obtain another round ticket from it.

My statement came in the mail. I was not only charged $100 for the transfer but they did not give me my points.

I called the customer help desk and they stated I was miss informed. I was livid. I called several times again and to my dismay no RESOULTION! I closed my card this year. They had below par customer service. This company was not too honest about their practices.

Your complaint is with Bank NOT Alaska Airlines. The airline doesn't make the rules regarding which transactions qualify to earn miles and which do not. The airline does not set the interest rate or the annual fee. Alaska is one of the best airlines when it comes to customer service and because you are misinformed and do not even realize who you are actually speaking with or doing business with you are tarnishing their good name.
