ALLAN NELSON CONSTRUCTION rip-off! After closing on our home, things that were to be finished were not and we had to beg for completion. GRAND FORKS North Dakota
We had a home built by Nelson Construction of Grand Forks and and to file a claim in small claims to get some of it finished. The other stuff I had to finish myself without compensation. This contractor has done this to several people in our neighborhood, some worse than others, and has gotten by with false promises. The day before closing on our hosue we were told that all the things (we had a list) that needed to be completed would be without question.
This couldnt have been further from the truth. In contacting Mr. and Mrs Nelson they would make excuses for the subcontractors or we were just unable to get in contact with them. Also, the week after we moved in we noted our furnace wasnt putting out enough warm air so we contacted Grand forks Heating who did the heating/cooling for our home. After several visits, we were told by them that the furnace was operated during construction and it was PLUGGED with sheetrock dust and that we needed it cleaned immediately.
Again, after several unsuccessful attempts to contact the Nelsons(they were on vacation in Arizona) we called around and got the best estimate to have the job done. I told the company who did the job to bill Nelson construction (since this IS a new home and we shouldnt be responsible, right?) and to call us if they had any trouble. To make a long story short, after they got back from their vacation, they refused to pay for the cleaning since they did not AUTHORIZE it. I and Grand Forks Heating did leave messages on Mr Nelson's cell phone. Then I tried to obtain the records of visits from Grand Forks Heating to give to Mr. Nelson and they REFUSED!! They(Vince) said they do too much bussiness with Mr. Nelson to get in between.
So, we were stuck paying $400 to have our furnace cleaned shortly after moving in to our NEW home. These situations have happened to EVERY person(s) who has had a home built by Mr. Nelson and to think he even lives in our neighborhood! They respond by saying that the customers are asking for too much. The problem here is simple...after you pay, dont expect ANY customer service from this guy.
