Allen And Lewis - The Law Firm Of Allen And Lewis a collection company, NOT a Law Office, calling me in California Jacksonville Florida
I was at home off-duty on May 13, 2009, when I recieved a call from my opposite at my workplace. I am a professional firefighter. He advised me that I had recieved a telephone call from a person, named Jay Lomax (who interestingly from other posts is a fictitious name used by all the reps)representing himself as an attorney for a law firm called Allen and Lewis. My work associate said the call was urgent and I needed to call back immediatly. Mind you, this call was originally made to my workplace. I immediatly went to the web and found RipOff and located information regarding the deceptive practices of Allen and Lewis Associates , based out of Florida. I was also interested to see the private email and addresses of it's owners (whom I plan to write). I immmediatly called Allen and Lewis as 800-773-5322. I spoke to Robert. I inquired as to whether the company was a collection agency, he said "well, a branch of the company does collections". I was more specific and asked if the company was a law firm. He said no. I indicated my knowledge of the Fair Credit Act and knew from RipOff that cases were pending on them for misrepresenting themselves as a law firm. I demanded that they cease calling my worksite or I would exercies my rights under the act to seek any legal recourse available to me. He stuttered and asked for my name and viola! was able to pull up all sorts of info...my home address, home number. I stated that their communication to me would be by letter only which he said was noted. I lastly indicated that "Jay" at X202 should be notified never to call my worksite again. I am sure this collection is from an old musicial instrument we had issues with a music store some years ago. They can still collect on the the debt they have purchased for as long as they see prudent. But don't be hoodwinked by shady practices. I found when called on it, this rep folded and I knew at least I had the upper hand. I'll deal with the collection in a manner that suits me not by their heavy handed, or rude tactics.
