I purchased Allianz Travel Insurance for a business trip from Pittsburgh to St. Louis.  The insurance was nicely positioned to be partnered with United Air and in the event of Trip Cancellation, which was boldly stated and printed, Allianz would have you covered.

Not so!  It turns out, despite having boldly advertised Trip Cancellation Coverage, Allianz claimed that a cancelled business trip is no part of the trip cancellation coverage and said that I should sought out their entire policy documentation prior to purchasing.  Yes, indeed, they've managed to wiggle their way out of such coverage within their 20 page small print, by bundling the coverage with natural disasters and medical emergencies. 

Again, despite boldly advertising trip cancellation overage, that the average semi-intelligent person would assume meant that it was part of a service offered in partnership with the airline, in the event that your trip was cancelled.  Apparently, having a business trip/meeting cancelled, beyond my control, is not worthy of a refund.

of insurance in that there are terms, conditions and exclusions that affect coverage.  We, as well as our partner United Airlines, want consumers to make informed decisions when it comes to travel insurance.  When the insurance is offered, we make sure that we indicate that Limitations apply and provide a link which consumers may use if they want to review the terms and conditions. 

Also, we encourage all of our customers to take advantage of our 10-day Satisfaction Guarantee, which provides the opportunity to go over the insuring agreement weve provided and make sure that the insurance will meet our customers needs.  If our customers have any questions after reading the policy, we can guarantee that one of our dedicated representatives will be available to answer any questions.  If consumers then find that their purchased policy doesnt
meet their needs, they can cancel it and receive a full premium refund.
