Allied interstate stole money out of my account. It started when I contact Amerian express and told them i would be paying them the money i owed them friday(February, 27th). The did'nt contacted me or any collection agency prior to my call. that thursday morning i received a call from a vito currillo stating american express contacted them stating i was refusing to pay my bill. i was shocked. i explained to him that i indeed contacted the card company that monday and told them i was going to pay the bill that friday. he told me to give him my accounts information and that he would give the information to the credit card company so no action would begin against my credit. i was in the beginning of refianicing my home and didn't want to have anything reflected on my credit so i gave him the information. he told me to call and make the payment in the morning and to contact him to let him know i paid it. i made the payment,$2,130.82, called him to confirm, and gave him the confirmation #. i tried to make a purchase march 4th, and found i have insuffiecient funds in the account. i go on line, check me transaction, and notice another debit for the same amount march 1st.I called the bank and they stated the debit was done by allied interstate. I tried contacting mr. currillo but get only an answering machine. i finally got a mr.price that just brushed it off and a mrs coronell that yelled at me, treated me like a abuised two year old, and suggested i e-mail her about the incident, only it's an fake e-mail address.SOMEONE PLEASE HELP ME. my account is in overdraw statues and i have accumalated $120 in check fees.

HERE IS WHAT RIP-OFF REPORT SUGGESTS YOU DO:

Go to your bank within 60 days of the charge, or as soon as you know about the charge, don't delay, and tell them that there has been fraudulent activity within your account. Explain that you wish to file a dispute, and demand that they assist you in accordance with Federal Regulation E.

According to the majority of victims interviewed by Rip-off Report, those who immediately called their banks to dispute the charges did not get very far. Many victims got the following responses from their banks: we could not do anything for you or you waited too long; it has been more than 60 days.

If the bank is says that you have waited too long, explain to them how you called their 800 number as soon as the charges were found, and were told by the bank that nothing could be done. Remind the bank that they failed to assist you properly at the 800 #, and instead, provided you with an inadequate explanation of your right to dispute. Tell the bank that it's their fault time has expired, and since they gave you the wrong info to begin with, they will just have to deal with it, take the loss and reverse the charges.

Tell them the truth; this was unauthorized and your account was NOT to be charged! Keep emphasizing how you never authorized anything! Direct them to the hundreds of victims reports that were filed on Rip-off Report.com. And if you're at the bank, walk them over to their computer and make them go to this site! If you are on the phone with them, tell them you will wait while they access this site! Either way, be persistent!

DO NOT TAKE NO FOR AN ANSWER!

Let them know nicely, that you were advised to Report them (the Bank) and this situation to the Banking Commission in your state. Since each state has a different name for the agency/controller over banks, find that name before you call or get to the bank so you can throw it in their face. The more knowledgeable you appear to be, the further you will get.

And just continue to demand the Federal Regulation E form! The bank CAN, MUST and WILL reverse the charge! But, you must be persistent; ask to speak to the supervisor or the area manager for all the branches in the state.

Let the bank personnel know you are meeting with the media later in the day, that you would much rather they do the right thing (as most other banks have) by looking at the complaints and immediately reversing the charge(s) to your account; no matter how long ago it was. Be sure to call the Media if necessary so you are telling the truth.

If you have to, be loud (but nice) in front of other customers. If you are just calling by phone, the above tactics should still work. The bank can easily fax or mail to you the Federal Regulation E dispute form.

CHARGES TO YOUR CREDIT CARD

If the charge was to your credit card (not debit card, check card, or checking account), contact the credit card company as soon as possible to request a dispute form. Consumers usually have a little longer to dispute fraudulent credit card charges (up to 6 months), but it is better to act right away. In this type of situation, credit card disputes are usually successful since fraudulent companies often won't contest the disputed charge. In rare cases, credit card companies will review disputes, but refuse to reverse the charges. If this occurs, complain to a manager and let them know you will be filing a report here.

Remember Don't let them get away with it! Make sure they make the Rip-off Report .. The more Reports filed on a Company or individual, the more likely it is that the authorities, media and attorneys will want to take action.

And good luck Let us know how you do!

hello concerning readers. well it's my with the update on what happened to me when i went to the bank. i went to the sovereign bank here in bloomfield NJ. I enter the bank, went into one of the rooms, and began telling a mrs. roberta about what occurred. she began cutting off my sentences before i could finish them, acting as though she couldn't comprehend what i was telling her, putting words in my month by saying,"so you did authorize the withdrawal," twisting the story backward and forwards, and began acting as though i was lying. she then called uo someone on the phone and then the two started interagatig me as though i was the crimal. I became so furius,to the point of swearing. Then it downed on me that i was ignorant enough in the whole situation and it was to to use my brains. I took a deep breath and calmly opened my cellphone, tapped a couple of bottons on it, and as she was rattling on, placed it on the desk openly. I then said very carmly," i have been explaining to you over and over that an unauthorized withdrawal was made from me account. Now, what was it you said again"? I only wish i could have taped the way her attitude did a complete 360. She thought started recording the conversation, when the truth of the matter is the phone wasn't even on. i shut it off before i entered her room. She then said," oh. your sayiny to me that you didn't authorize the withdrawal. oh my dear i was a bit confused. well, i have this frugalent claim from for you to file out. put everthing you know happenedon the form and someone will be in touch with you shortly.so that' how it all happened. i hope this issue can be quickly resolved.

Bridget, a suggestion for when you speak to your bank

Bridget, When you report this to your bank, do not tell them you gave up the information on your account, as they may consider this authorization. AND...For future reference...In case you haven't figured it out already.....NEVER give a collection agency ANY personal or banking information, especially over the phone. Many of these collectors are felons and drug addicts. Do you really want them having your bank information, SS#. and DOB? You NEVER even have to speak to an outside collector. JUST HANG UP. It is better not to deal with anyone on the phone. Always do business in writing. Good luck
