Allied Moving Systems aka SIAA, Inc ripped off and scammed, screwed others too Sunrise Florida
Allied Moving Systems aka SIAA inc, located in Sunrise, FL scammed me for everything I owned. I accessed Yahoo to get some quotes from local moving companies. I got a reply from several but I chose Allied, thinking they were affiliated with the Worldwide company with the big orange and red trucks.
I spoke with Roni Greene who patiently calculated the estimated cubic feet I would need to move from Lakeland FL to Reading PA. We were on the phone almost an hour. She was very personable and accommodating.She determined that I should expect to pay $1696.00 for 898 cu. ft. at $2.00 per cu. ft. I agreed and she sent me an email confirmation that same day. Later I called her back to say that I forgot to include my washer & dryer and she said it was no problem, she would add thaton and send me another confirmation. My total was now $1796.00. She said it would be no problem anyway to add anything at the time of the move, but I told her i did not want to have any surprises. She said the driver would be in touch the day before the move to confirm the time they would arrive.
Someone (Roni, I believe) called the day before to tell me they would be there between 12:00 & 2:00pm and I told them this was a problem for me because as I explained origianlly I was looking at a 17-18 hour drive and wanted to leave as soon as possible. I asked if I had to be there or if I could have a friend or neighbor let them in. She told me it was fine as long as someone was there to let them in, I didnt have to wait around.
This was my biggest mistake ever, I called a friend to let them in. He was asked to sign their contract and inital the inventory pages as they carried everything out. They showed up with a Ryder truck to pick everything up, which had I been there, I would have known something was wrong. They proceeded to pack my boxes into bigger boxes and bill me for a whopping $1496 in packing materials and then tell my friend the additial 702 cu. ft. came to an additiponal $3500.00 My quoted $1796.00 just turned into $6802.00 and they would not unpack the stuff, when he told them that it didnt seem right.
I tried to call Roni the next business day to determine what was going on. She did not talk to me, she immediately put me on the phone with her Supervisor/dispatcher who refused to even give me his name. I asked that he fax me a copy of the bill/contract and he said he would but I never received it. My father got on the phone to talk to him and he dropped the price by $1500.00 but was still holding out for $4100.00 All he will tell me is my stuff is "safely in storage in PA" but that is all.
I tried to argue that I made averbal agreement with them for $2.00 per cu.ft. and I was willing to pay for the extra 702 cu ft but that I was not paying $5 when they gave me the estimated number of cu. ft. and i',m sure they intentionally low-balled that so they could pull this on me.
I am now without my belongings, my 12 year old daughters belongings and I feel like I have been raped and robbed of everything. I feel like a complete fool for allowing myself to be a victim. Someone has to stop these people!
