I have heard numerous things regarding Allstate Insurance. Some good and some bad, but i figured that is just a part of life. Me and my husband decided to give Allstate a try. I went in to my local agents office - Tonda Phillips Corporation in Wilkesboro NC - and started a policy on one of our vehicles, and paid in full for 6 months. Last month we sold the vehicle. I went to the agents office to cancel the policy, with the full intention of putting my new car and our home and life insurances with Allstate. I was told the policy is cancelled and corporate will mail you a check. This was on June 2, 2014. On June 17 I called 1-800-ALLSTATE to check on the status of our refund. I was told our check was mailed on the 11th of June and we should be receiving it any day now. On June 25 the check had still not arrived. I went to my agents office. I was blessed with 5 minutes of her time, in which she had the original check voided out and another check mailed. Once again, no check ever arrived. After another week of phone calls, in which I was told numerous different stories, I was told that they were just going to place our refund back into our account. It is now July 2, and we have yet to receive our refund. No check has ever arrived, not deposit into our account either. I do not feel that I am in "safe hands", instead I feel that I am in hands that have been nothing but dishonest and disappointing. I tried my agent back again today where I was informed that I am no longer her customer and she doesn't have to help me, simply because I stated " I feel that Allstate has dropped the ball". Please beware of this company and Ms. Phillips in general. It is her duty as my agent to be there for me for my insurance needs, and she has refused to assist me and told me that "its not my problem". Good hands huh?
