Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
So, Alltel / Verizon has taken a cue from Darth Vader and decided that unilateral contractual changes without consent are okay despite their initial statement that as a customer who does not consent to the changes, I was perfectly within my rights to opt out.

With Verizon's purchase of Alltel, a number of changes have been implemented. These changes affect the service provided to former Alltel customers. Those changes are generally minor, but there are a few points of contention that make the contract changes unacceptable.

1.) A number of Virginia markets are being divested. That means that calls to Alltel customers that were once unlimited and free will now be out of network calls, burning up the minutes we've purchased for our plan. This change affects the scope of what is being offered by Alltel.

Granted, this does increase the number of in-network people, but that is irrelevant. If I am counting on free in-network calls to specific people, giving me ten people I don't call as a substitute for one person i -do- call is no substitute at all. I find this to be a major contract change one that I am unwilling to tolerate.

2.) Alltel offers an anytime plan change option. This option allows us to change our plan at any time without incurring additional contract requirements. Since the merger, the number of Alltel plans available locally is zero. Alltel says that my only option is to incur another two year contract by switching to Verizon. Excuse me but what part of anytime plan changes without additional contract obligations did they miss? Hell, their hold music still offers the same thing, so I know I'm not imagining things.

This is the second of the unacceptable changes. My thought was to drop service (if I cannot argue #1 successfully) to the absolute bare minimum, but they've removed that option by removing all Alltel plans from my market. My choices are to switch to Verizon with a new two year contract, or to wait until my current contract expires.

What I've done so far:

I've posted to Facebook and Twitter some corporations monitor traffic for negative press. More importantly, though, I've contacted the Better Business Bureau and I've sent a message to their corporate office to complain about the level of service (the reps on the phone have been inconsistent at best, and dishonest at worst) and the lack of actual escalation procedure. I am also going to continue to spread this tale of epic customer service failure far and wide, until such a time as Alltel / Verizon contacts me with real resolution options or I bash them relentlessly and vocally for all time.

I am also doing some research and I may report them for ethics violations concerning the merger. If nothing else, it'll give them something else to have to spend money on.

Verizon Wireless bad Business Ethics

#2General Comment

It was very interesting to see all the rebuttles and bad ethics comments left on this company. I am also in the Va. Alltell area that was taken over by Verizon Wiresless. To shortly illustrate what happened to me. I had an alltell account for two years. After my contract was up, alltell switched me to a "Pay as you go" customer. e.i. they knew Verizon was buying them out and wanted to show enhanced records. Two months after my plan was over Verizon bought our area and continued with the pay as you go ethics that I had done biz with alltell under. The average bill was $68. Five month's after Verizone had this area the charges started excalating with any less Min/line use. On the fifth month a Rec. A bill that was 289.00. After contacting Verizone I was told it was for texting. I'v never texted over 135 text in any one month. That was my Average texting amount. I left Verizone a mesgage on there site that I would continue to pay $68.00 a month on my bill and than "Goodbye". I also said I did not want to talk to a cust serv Rep and to not call. they have called no less then 4 times a day. All was well for three month's on my paying the bill as promised untill the last bill I rec. a few days ago had an ideational fee of $206.54. After I called a Rep. she said is was for a "Early contract withdrawal fee". My phone as per my req has not been on for 4 month's.I explianed to her she could not produce a Verizone piece of paper where I singed a contract with Verizon and did not have a contract plan with alltell at the time verizon bouight them out. Verizon assigned this plan to me and it was my understanding that it was a pay as you go deal. There was no contract. At the end of our little talk, she said if I paid the bill in full, my account would be closed and all would be happy. How do you fight something like this???

I feel your pain. I dropped Verizon to go to Alltel a while back. I had to contact the FCC on Verizon for terrable billing. Like billing me picturing on a then non-picture taking phone. Downloades that didn't exist on my phone. The laidy's comment was  'well why don't you download it' because I kept calling them every month. Hey jerk I don't want to pay for it. She refused to give me a supervisor. Also the promotions that expired with out warning and your bill is ten times as big. Not to mention it was stated that if we don't respond to the mail by phone or text that we do not agree to the merger. They are very good at saying no to you. Alltel was a breath of fresh air. No hasstle and always said yes to requests. What was that Facebook page you mentioned? I was supposed to get an additional company discount but again they told me know stating that it was an Alltel account and they already gave me enough discounts. What a load of dung!

Preaching to the chior.

This web sight is new to me I was looking for info. on a truck CO. and decided to log on.  If no one complains, nothing ever gets fixed. No one is accountable. welcome to America.  The only country were big CEO's can collect tax payers money and still walk the streets freely.  If you no who I'm referring to, they should be exiled from the US with our money, never to return. These people should not have any contact or even a bank account here.

I also am a alltel customer and noticed and extra $30 charge on my bill.  Its not the customers fault that verizon doesn't cover the towers that I signed the original contract for.(national plan)  To me that is a breach of contract.  But to do a buyout, we would still have to pay for the phone/s and there expensive.

PS:  I cant wait tell the contract is up and I'll never buy a nether Motorola there junk.
