Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have also had problems with Alltel. The phone will not ring but then hours later I will receive "1 missed call". I can call my son's phone and it will ring and ring but not on his end. Every month I have a different billing problem.

Last month they charged me over $800 for calls that were under an unlimited plan! I was pursuaded to purchase all new phones to update to digital and receive "improved service". That was a joke!

The service didn't improve and they extended my contract two years. Of course the salesperson didn't tell me that at the time! Now I am stuck with lousy service and a two year contract. They tell me the only way I can discontinue service is to pay $180 each for the two phones!

They have the money they made me pay for the new digital phones and I still have to pay $360 to escape from this lousy company!!!

All I want is to get as far away from Alltel as I can get, and I am telling everyone I now what a crooked company they are.

NOTICE: The following is from an ALLTEL Employee! Your first mistake as with many customers is that you FAILED to read the contractual terms listed on the CONTRACT you signed. You also failed to look at what your plan offered vs where you used the plan and the instructions detailed with the phone you purchased. Specifically the coverage map shows you the approximate areas you may use your phone that are considered "local areas" where you will not be charged roaming. As with ALL cellular companies the maps are an approximation of the coverage area. Actual coverage is determined ONLY by the roaming light on your phone. When you use the phone while roaming then you are charged roaming which is $.99 cents a minute as well as long distance charges. No contract is a scam especially if you are the one who signs it. When you make your mark on any contract that is your agreement to follow the terms outlined. Nowhere on the contract or any contract for anything that I have seen has a clause that states you can cancel your agreement at any time because you want to. Also, when you signed up for the phones you had a 3 day trial period with them. As long as you stayed under 30 minutes you could return the phone at no cost or obligation. You say you had crappy service and could not use the phones. Well, if that is the case then how did you manage to run up an $800.00 bill while roaming as well as use the minutes you did on the unlimited plan?? When your signal is not there and the phone shows searching for service then you can't make calls. You apparently were able to use it just fine.

There are many other complaints about ALLTEL.

1.. They have over sold in many of their markets. That's why you get dropped calls and your calls are not coming to you many times. 2.. One week you sign up for an unlimited plan. The very next week your bill is charged an extra $10.00 a month. They decided to raise the rates with no notice! That's over 100,000 customers being charged $10.00 more a month, with no improvement of service! 3.. There bills are misleading like all the other Cellular phone company bills. Rebuttal:
People who can not read should not be allowed to sign contracts----i have been with alltel for over a year and my phone works great and my bill is always fine. I was explained my contract and was never promised that my rates would not change--but I always read before i sign anything and i noticed that if they are going to make changes I can cancel service and have no termination charges. Always read before you sign and if you don;t understand ask questions
