This company misrepresents themselves as a healthcare provider...Not only did my coverage not exist but they charged me double what I was promised. They claim to be a faith based organization but I feel they use that to try to make people comfortable giving them money over the phone. DO NOT DO BUSINESS with this company because after they billed me they later told me that the coverage didnt exist because they coudlnt process the billing. The costumer service department continued to give me the run around and didnt settle any of my issues. For a company who claims to follow in the path of our lord its horrible that they lean on that and continue to lie to me about my plan and decieve me just to get my money. After thinking I had coverage with health insurance I was in a accident and because they couldnt process my health plan I am stuck with $49,756 in hospitals bills as well as a tax penalty from our government. This is outrageous that they are allowed to present themselves as decent peole and are complete frauds. This incident has ruined my life and dont want them to ruin anyone life and credit wit with hospital bills thinkng that they are insured

after fixing all the issues they sent me the tax forms and paid all medical bills. It was all a billing issue on my end the was resolved

I wanted to post this because someone I referred was nervous to purchase this co-op health plan due to this negitive review. I just wanted to add that our family has this plan and we referred many people to it. We believe in not having 3 insurance comanies to determin our healthcare costs and procedures for an entire lifetime. Who can afford the rates these insurance companies charge? Every year they go up. Are you healthly? Why pay for something like your not healthy? Do you have a higher power? Do you need affordable health care that is NOT a smoke in mirrors alterative? Do you want to help others and be helped when you need it? Do you want to have major cliams paid one year down the way when you need it but cant afford the 1400 a month it costs for your family to have Anthem Blue Cross? Anyways I just thought the more people put down these alternitives the more we lose as a society. Healthcare costs are scary folks. This company is recogized by the government and does the right thing. Thumbs up to more choices and Amen to solutions.

I want to opoligize for any misrepresentation that one might have received regarding Altrua HealthShare being insurance. We are a faith-based Health Care Sharing Ministry, not insurance. Many people that have been members for years still refer to Altrua as insurance but if you ask them if it is, they then say they know and understand that it is not. This is very common when a person is just looking for an exemption or to have a medical bill paid and truly not doing proper verification of what they are signing up for. Every piece of literature, every application for membership clearly states that Altrua HealthShare is NOT insurance or offered through an insurance company. It truly helps to know what one is signing up for when you apply for membership.
We even go to the extent of each applicant donating $25 to the ministry as a tax deductible donation to help others in need. It is really clear what Altrua HealthShare is and what it is not. Altrua HealthShare has shared in all eligible medical needs submitted to the membership. If a member does not honor the statement of standards or defiles the membership requirements, medical needs are not shared in by others. This program is for those who can honor the biblically based Statement of Stamdards and not bring devastation to other members by trying to submitt a claim that is not eligible for sharing.
Altrua shares in millions of dollars of medical needs through the membership and properly settles each claim associated with the members. It is the members responsibility to follow through with the membership guidelines and in following through with the requirements for having their needs shared by others. Again, I opologize for any error on our behalf when offering the ability for a potential member to sign up for this sharing ministry. We have many very satisfied members across this nation that are celebrating 20 years this year of sharing in each other's medical needs.
