AMERI PRIZE CORPORATION Sweepstakes and Lottery Draw "Award Check Claim" Scam Niagara Falls New York
Received a letter with a return PO box address from N. York, ON M5E9L4 and Canadian stamp. Inside of letter there is a check for US$1,850.00 and this was to help pay the government service tax (US$1,686.00).
I'm advised to contact Dave Brown at 1-514-998-4900 with instruction on how to claim my winnings and have my check activated.
At bottom of letter it is signed by Christine R. Ruiz (promotion Manager). The letter also used icon of Publisher Clearing House (pch.com) & Reader's Digest.com.
I googled "Christine R. Ruiz" and found a similar Ripoff Report #439779 on Royal Trust Corporation.

Evidentally, this really is a scam. See the reports below from another website: Holly of East Palestine OH (03/26/09) they sent me a letter from publishers clearing house and a check from L.I. insurance company of america for the amount of 4,965.00 and told me to deposit the check in my account and it was for the taxes to pay in canada for my winning of 250,000.00. I took the check to the bank and ask them to investigate this and see if it was a scam and it turned out to be! It is a good thing i did not send them a check out of my account. Harcourt of Pueblo West CO (03/24/09) Claimed I won $450,000 Tax Free, from publishers clearing house sweepstakes and it would be delivered 10:30 am the next day, all I have to do is give him a credit card # or a checking acct. number to insure delivery by currier.He claimed delivery could not made until money was received or my winnings would be sent to the next name on the list. Whatever you do, DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE YOUR CREDIT CARD NUMBER!!!
