Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have been a card holder for number of years. Not a day late in my payment with Amex. I own a home with equity , have large sum of money in the bank yet these people cancelled my card without cause , damaging my credit score. Additionally they took away my reward points that I had been saving for a trip for so many years.

This is a tool for them to scam people out of their points.

They need to be stopped .I have talked to lawyers and they will sue them for free as a class. Please join me if you experienced similar fraud from American Express

American Express TOOK 273,000 hard earned points points from me. I asked where my points have gone that I have earned over the years in great standing, no logical explanation. If there is anyone else out there that has had a similar experience and is interested in a Class Action?

Thank you all for reporting your experience in this site. I have dealt with many banks and their anti-customer policies in the past two years, and find the practices at best despicable. That being said I received an invitation to apply yesterday and thought about it, then checked this site and there they were just like all the other banks screwing the public that give them their profits. Once customer loyalty meant something and now they cannot give a toss. Everyone in the country and the world should stop using their cards - that would change things. Yet, of course, this probably will never happen? That is until the American public does something to stop this abuse.

I was terminated by am-ex also, they were the only CC I had, I had been experiencing what I thought was a small amount of identity theft ( wooo what I have learned the hard way ) I used my amex card for everything and my bill was sometimes $15,000.00 a month, I would always pay it in full every month.

I had been with them since 1986 and it was October 2009 I was on my way to work, I had a huge seminar to give that day and it would cost $2,000.00 to do so, I was informed by amex they had terminated my card because I had SIX applications with amex pending approval!!!! I was blinded by the fear that someone had done this to me.

I tried to explain to the account rep on the phone there had to be a mistake I had not filed for a new card, the rep insisted I did, I was by now having heart palpitations of fear =)... It had reared its ugly head someone had me and good, but I could not reason with them at all, they were acting as if I was the bad guy and in their eyes it was over I WAS SCAMMING THEM. they threw me away like trash I understand and would love to follow this report they have NO Common Sense.

I have been with American Express since the early 90's. Just about 20 years. I put all my charges through my businesses to American Express. I accumulated over a 1,000,000 membership rewards. My business was solid as was my relationship with AMEX. They awarded me the Centurion card for all the charges I had put through. I went through a brief period where I experienced cash flow struggles. I called AMEX to see what my options were. They said to go on a payment plan and pay off the amount owed. After paying it off they would reinstate the cards and issue my points back to me. I paid off every cent and made good on every dollar. When I went to reinstate my points they will not take a call or give an answer by phone. You have to write in. I wrote in detailing my story and how I want my points back now. They wrote a quick paragraph saying they reviewed my account and then an auto-generated sentence about how they have declined my request. Very cold, automated and sterile. Not like the customer service I used to get when I was given the Centurion (black) card. I was told after the fact that I had to pay all off in one year or forfeit the points. They never told me that when I called in beforehand.

I am very interested in pursuing this in the courts or media. I am losing over a 1,000,0000 points that I use to take my family on trips.

I already filed a report. They structured a repayment program for me because I was behind 1 month. The managers promised me my point would be available once I paid in full. I chose a 12 month repayment program to pay my last balance. I payed every month on time and on the seventh month they cancelled my card, but still promised to give me back my points. I fianally called the CEO's office and a woman told me I forfeited them all. They exist becuase of the taxpayers and continue to screw us.. Yes. My wife is a lawyers and if we have enough complaints, we will form a class action.

22 years with AMEX GOLD Card, in good standing. Accumulated 165,000 points which I had been saving to take my boys on a trip this summer. After applying to link my account with a major airline, the next week my card was cancelled along with all points. 22 years with a company! It is obvious to me they did not want me to transfer or cash out my points. I also was told from them after the cancellation that I could re-apply. How nice of them! Your account is in their control and since we all pay the balance off on a monthly basis they could just reduce your credit line or freeze account.(if they were in fear of loss) Cancellation taking (stealing) points, and damaging your credit rating was and is not necessary for them have fiscal responsibility. American Express wanted the points, and cancellation is the way to gain them! I will never again use an American Express Card. Marie

Dear Jasmin, I can relate to your exeriance. I had over 506,000 points in my account, which was in good standing with AMEX. I am personally interested in filing a class action suite against them. I am sure you and I are not alone... If you are interested in do so as well, I will have a website setup that will allow individuals to submit a claim. Regards, Mark H

Its called responsible lending. They take an overall look at many factors, including you history with american express, as well as you overall credit portfolio. If there were other things or obligations you haven't taken care of as well, then how do they know you will continue paying your bill with them. No legal action will stand up, its not fraud, they have the right to do that, and when you first used your card, you accepted their terms and agreements
