I joined AFCA back in 1994 and they issued me a Visa card with a membership fee. I was having some credit problems back then and I needed the help.

Over time I cleared up my credit somewhat and I got my fee down to $5 dollars a month. Then I recieved a notice from Household Credit that they had purcased my account from afca and that there were no fees req, but afca continues to take $5 out of my bank account every month.

I've written them 3 letters to let them know I no longer want to do business with them. I've had no response. I tried to stop the payment at my bank but they say that they have to stop it at afca. It has been "6" years since, and they are still taking it out of my account.

AFCA Hassles

I also went the AFCA route. I spent about a year and a half trying to shut everything down and get everyone to stop charging memoney and taking money out of my accounts. The easiest way, just close your account, or talk to you bank about getting a new un related account number. As long as AFCA continues to get their money, they won't be to eager to stop. Once you stop it for them, (future deductions will be rejected due to invalid account numbers) then they have to deal with the issue. Yeah, Its a little bit of a hassle for you , but it should solve the problem of them taking their monthly fees.
