In early February 2007 I applied for an SBA loan. My credit reports were used several times during this period. I discovered that a dispute which I had previously reported to the credit reporting bureaus was still appearing on credit history records. This dispute was over the reporting of one of my American General Finance Corp. secured personal loans as part of the the charged-off accounts on my 2002 federal chapter 7 bankruptcy filing. This loan was reconfirmed and paid as agreed during and after the bankruptcy proceedings. It is listed in the court filing however, the account was not charged-off in my bankruptcy case. Since this particular account was reconfirmed and paid as agreed. It never should have been reported by American General Finance Corp as an Adverse Account.

I brought the copies of my credit reports to American General Finance Corp. office in Lancaster, California that same time in February of 2007. I showed them to the manager and one or another of the employees. I asked them to look into this and report back to me while I disputed the information with the 3 credit reporting bureaus. 08.04.08, I received paperwork from TransUnion which informed me that they would not be removing this erroneous item.

I normally pay my monthly bill by walking into the Lancaster office and writing a check. I asked each manager nearly every month to get me paperwork verifying that this account information was a mistake. I inquired face to face with their employees, over and over, nearly every month since then about this and they all assured me they would take action on my request. They were provided with copies of the credit reports by me. I never received any paperwork from them in all this time.

When I asked about it again last month (June) when I went to their office as usual to pay the bill. Because there seemed to have been a complete change in the staff again and they still have no answer for me about this matter, now some 18 months later, I decided to access my

credit reports again. This time I found the erroneous information on all three credit reports.

I have been trying to reach Pete Ebright, Director of Operations, in his Santa Rosa, California office since July 23rd 2008 and have gotten no response to my inquiry. On July 29, 2008 I tried to contact Avtar Sahota about the problem and the only thing I have been told by employees of American General Finance Corp. as of August 1st 2008 is, It's with our legal department.

I addition to this credit reporting problem, American General Finance Corp. has sent me a notice every 6 month stating that they do not have proof of insurance on the vehicle they are holding as collateral. My current car insurance agent at Farmers Insurance in Santa Monica, California, has repeatedly sent the information to American General Finance Corp. at the Fax number they gave me to use and they have gone ahead and charged the insurance from their provider onto my loan account. I took 8 weeks of my protesting to the Lancaster office staff to get the charge removed from my account. For weeks employees in that office repeatedly denied they had any communication from Farmer's insurance.

Since they are on the vehicle title as lien holders, I do not see why the onus is on the customer to prove they have insurance when the California Department of Motor Vehicles has this info as part of the vehicle registration. Their repeated attempts to charge me for insurance seem to be a form of fraud and I go through this lack of competency and response to the insurance matter every 6 months.

As of today 08.07.2008, I have not receive any acknowledgment from American General Finance Corp. about these matters by either phone, FAX, email or US mail. They have refused to respond in a any manner about my complaint.
