My parents bought life insurance policies on all the children at the same time we were born. 1959-1975. Purchased from Herald Life Insurance Company of Jacksonville Florida. 2 policies bought 1959, 1 1960, 1 1970, 1 1975. Herald Life merged into American General Life & Accident Insurance Company of Nashville, Tennessee in 1998. In May(2007) my brother died and I began contacting AGLA in phone calls and emails via their corporate website. Each time I contact them they tell me a different story. They told me they sold the policies to United Insurance Company of Chicago. Checked it out and proved to be false. All trails lead back to them and they are not fessing up! If anyone out there has policies with Atlas Mutual Life Insurance Company on the certificate, which were sold all around the midwest in the late 50's up until early 80's by Herald Life, PLEASE lets get together and start building our attack!!!

I bet you would have never typed such an idiotic statement after the bailout. American General has done this before. They are still doing it. And as far as your dumbass remark, why would you come here to defend a company that failed in all aspects of business, other than making a few greedy, coward CEO's rich, If it were not for the money the Americans put into the system, including yours, that company would have folded. So i think you owe the person an apology for calling them a moron. And then take a long look in the mirror and reconsider the placement of such a name.

Hey, do you REALLY think that American General, a multi billion dollar corporation with holdings throughout the world, are trying to cheat you out of a lousy little policy in which the face value probably isn't even $1,000??? C'mon, get real. You are the one who is confused. Make sure you have your facts straight before speaking negatively about a company. If American general rightfully owes, then trust me, they will pay out. I've seen claims paid out that were close to the million dollar mark, with no problem. Stop blaming big companies for your own stupidity. YOu're a moron.
