Americo Ins. goes under several names in fine print at the bottom of their policy/form letters.  I'm now assuming they use whichever is beneficial to them.

After working successfully since age 16,  and through several painful things, I realized after NOT being able to work for over 8 months I was in need of a disability policy. 

Was solicited by a company named Americo, an agent scheduled and appointment to verbally ask questions, take down my information, etc.  to have apprx. $85 a month withdrawn from my bank acct.  for a policy that SUPPOSEDLY would pay for TWO YEARS in case of my being unable to work due to illness or injury. 

I very willingly mentioned, and agreed to exclude, my one health condition, though controlled/treated, of cervical dystonia.

I'd just returned to work after a rotator cuff injury that had me unable to lift one arm without pain for months, and had even lost a job over that as I was unable to work, and am/was an independant contractor. 

That scared me into realizing I needed at least coverage for my home mortgage. 

I'm divorced with NO other income, as I was then.  I wanted some peace of mind, and turned to this company for it.  Bad decision since I didn't choose another.

While on my once a year vacation (I'm a licensed barber/hair stylist/colorist)was returning from visiting my parents...the airplane ascending/descending caused a pressure 'pop' in my left ear.  I've suffered unbearable sensitivity to sounds since.  Diagnosed by three hearing specialists as 'collapsed tollerance to sound'. 

Again...I have worked, and quite successfully until this incident.  Over 30 years as in my former profession.

The Americo agent sat across from my dining room table and took  information, even recommending I should get a job as an agent with them myself!  I still have the note she sent to me with her boss' name on it concerning that.  Nothing keeping me from working then, but NOW they are claiming my hearing problems 'since childhood' have voided my claim.

They also have not taken into acct. that a MONTH after my plane trip, a car accident caused by another (my braking to avoid her hitting me as badly) has me in physical therapy.   I couldn't work even if I did NOT have collapsed hearing, and intollerance to sounds (even my own voice I have to keep so low, I have to be close to others for them to hear me). 

This company has not yet been contacted by my attorney, but I can see no other outcome but to let him file a complaint with the Ins. Commissioner's office, and to pursue this.  I have too much documentation on my TWO conditions, and have no intention to sleep through this, as companies like this hope happens.  I won't be worn down and give up.  Contacting the media is one of my options.  I do not take women  in particular being bullied/dismissed by companies.

I took out 2 policy's Feb 2008. One on my EX, One on my self. I took out the Death, Disability, Unemp., Illness, Accident. The policy's came in with no riders, no applications attached so I called the agent to make her aware she said she had the riders and would make sure it was cleared up with the Ins. co Americo. 

In 2009 I became perm. Disabled so in 2009 I called to file claim and was told I don't have this ins. 

I have the orginal work sheet where the agent figured the Death, each rider I wanted after all the advertisment I rec. is the reason I contacted the Co. to take out Disability etc. the Death Ins. I wasn't so worried about since I do have Life ins. and my kids could sell the house and still make money. But in order to get the riders I had to purchase the Death Ins. So I did. 

I have been paying since Feb 2008 to current. My husband passed Feb 5, 2016 and he was the main income source.  In Nov 2017 I call Americo to file claim but was denied again. 

In between the years 2008, 09, 10, 11 the last time I spoke with the agent in 2011 to which I have on recording due to so many phone calls I made to her she stoped anwering my phonne calls, so I used my mother's cell, on speaker with my mother, my ex both sitting right there and recording with my recoder, Beth the agent said again YOU MEAN MY SECRETARY HASN'T MAILED THE RIDERS TO YOU YET. ? I REPLIED NO THEN SHE SAID I PROMISE YOU WILL HAVE THEM WITH IN 2 TO 3 WKS. This went on for 3 wks of me calling her but she assured me the ins. co. was aware and she had the riders.

My Daughter was in a motorcyle Accident in coma for 2 mo. not expected to live but then she woke and after 5 surgeries I had to bring her home with me to help her. so I didn't call the agent back I was too worried about my child.

When I called in Nov 2017 to file claim I called the agent Beth and I told her I have your org. work sheet in your hand writing, with each ins. death, disability etc. all itimized out.  SILENCE ... She said let me call you back. 

She calls me back and she and her boss both want to come to my home and talk to me. HMMMMM Well a friend of mine that is a Attorney told me they want the work sheet don't you show it to them.

If only I had taken his advise. They STOLED THE WORK SHEET ALONG WITH MY POLICY RIGHT OUT FROM UNDER MY NOSE. SITTING AT MY TABLE.

AFTER THEY LEFT I CALLED HER NO ANSWER, IT WAS 3 HOURS LATER SHE CALLS ME BACK AND SAID WE DIDN'T TAKE ANYTHING.  MY REPONSE WAS IT DIDN'T WALK AWAY, I HAVE GONE THROUGH THE ONE FOLDER I HAD OUT AND IT'S NOT IN MY FOLDER. THEN SHE FINALLY ADMITS YES WE TOOK THE POLICY AS IT IS LAW WHEN WE REPLACE A POLICY THE ONLY THING THEY DID WAS GIVE ME THE SAME THING EXCEPT IT HAD MY APPLICATION. This is a kicker the application I filled out had all been changed and then FORGED MY SIGNATURE. Another thing though they had forgotten I had 2 policy's it took me till this wk Jan 25, 2018 to get the other policy Application and it too has all been changed and forged as well. So now I had to file theft of documents taken out of my home, Had to file Fraud Report, Had to take copies of everything to the D.A. Here due to changing Fed. Docs, forging my signauture and my ex signauture. my cks i gave her that night were 3 one was a void the other 2 for the 1st prem. and in the memo area I put what I am paying for she whited out all all my notes. 

The thing is I am have been paying for this ins. my husband has passed and I needed to sell the house, but I needed the policy to pay the payments for the 2 yrs so I could sell. Wel I am losing my home since I am denied, I have over 300K equity in my home this is my retirment.  Thre is so much more to tell but I am wondering if they are taught, go through class's to fraud, misrepeent, clients, however I have copies of the work sheet and this was my concern the riders we take out ins. to protect ours self's for the future and now I have paid out almost 40K but they offered me the prem. back on one policy mine for disability. This is admitting wrong. The the agent keeps texting me such stupid stuff and I just tell her stop my attorney will send you notice just as he will Americo. 

So I am wondering if you ran into any of this, if your worked for them, I need help I am disabled, have to be out of my home Feb 28. Lose all my equity and have to get rid of everthing I own due to I have no place to store it can't affford storage, I have so much that I must get rid of that I have had for over 40 years that have a memories attached to them.  Thing is I took out this ins. I hae the work sheet, I have detailed notes, phone records, etc. and I am still denied. It's hard to find an attorney to take on a % pay. Even though they have been sued for Millions and the attorneys have won on the disability.

As a life insurance agent I would like to apologize for your bad experience with The Agency you worked with, I am not affilated with the agecy you work with as I am an independent agent and run my own agency in PA.

In defense of the company Americo Financial, I would like to point out a couple things.

1: You should never ever lie on a life insurance application. If an agent ever asks you to lie about something..even a lie of omission, that should be your first clue that the agency by default is not reputable. Any good agent/agency will make you aware of the possibilty of denial because of your conditions. They will advise you of your options and then walk you thorough the ethical steps you need to take.

2: Americo will not fullfill your request as they have every right to deny a claim if it is found the application is based on falsified information. Any Life Insurance Carrier has the right to do this.

3: The Insurance Carrier should not be the one under fire, it should be the agency you are working with, the signing agent is responsible and because of their own unethical actions will have their license suspended if not revoked. It is the agency you should be going after not the company.

There are ethics behind Life Insurance, not all Life Insurance Agencies are ethical..use your common sense and your own morals to determine if you should be working with the agent that is sitting in front of you. If something doesn't sound right, take a step back..put the process on hold and do your research.

You should not have to go through this, not in the least. I am sorry that the agent has left  a bad taste in your mouth but please do not think that all Life Insurance Agents and all Life Insurance Carriers are all bad and dishonest.
