Amex Movers Dishonest, Unprofessional, Cheats and Con Artists Los Angeles California
I scheduled a long distance move with Bryan and Art from Amex movers. They gave me a "not to exceed" quote for packing and moving a 3 bedroom house of $3000.00. I repeatedly requested the quote in writing. They insisted that they had faxed it and emailed it however, I never received it.
On moving day, the movers were 2 hours late. They refused to pack my property and gave me a new quote of $4000.00. I packed my own belongings. After 8 hours, they ran out of packing supplies and began loading my furniture and glass without any packing materials. They made a hole in my wall and then accused me of doing it.
They ran out of room in the truck and refused to call another truck as they promised that they would when the move was scheduled. An entire room full of property was left behind, I called the manager who stated that he would "make it up to me" by having the balance of my furniture delivered 2 days later. Little did I know, he would charge me another $500.00 dollars.
I was forced to sign blank contracts or I could not get my property. I was also refused a copy of the documents. It wasn't until later that I found out that I was charged $1200.00 to do my own packing !!
When my property finally got delivered it was horrible. My new bakers rack was destroyed, all the shelves in my curio cabinet were shattered, my 3 lamps were broken, my entertainment center was broken, my box springs were ripped open, my fridge was scratched and dented and weed killer was spilled on my photos.
I paid by credit card so that I could dispute the charges. I filed a claim with their insurance company and the Better Business Bureau. They have an "F" rating and were fined in 2006 for bad business practices.
I hope that no one else ever gets ripped off the way that I did.
