I have been a customer of AOL for some time now. I was in shock over this last problem I had with them

They sent me the new AOL 9.0 Optimize. With a free trial I was already a member but they told me I could still get a free trial. But they needed my credit card number or checking account number. Now they do not mention they would take out an additional 5.00 for that service.

I could have Road Runner and AOL for 14.95. I told them I really didn't need two internet services. But they said they would give me 3 months. Out of the 3 months they billed me for two. Refunding those but they were not happy about it.

Now for some reason the new 9.0 acted like a big virus in my computer. It took for ever to load then when I finally got it on my system crashed on. With help of a friend we got it back up and running. However, it still caused a big mess in my computer.

I took everything out and called AOL to CANCEL. That was a joke. I got some Indian for India who sounded like he never heard of the problem I was having.

I told him I wanted to cancel AOL. He promised me yet another month free to give it "One more chance". I said "Okay".

Well, needless to say it still would not load. So I called again to cancel after I realized that they had taken out 19.95. and then 6.70. Because I have broadband though an old company they no longer do business. I am praying that this doesn't cause hevic with my checking again.

When I call to get a refund they said I wasn't entitled to one. Because I had used 1000 hours over my limit. I told them the software hadn't been installed for sometime.

The only thing I can think of is I did use AIM to chat. Now if they are charging members to chat that is wrong.

Bottom line is ... their is nothing free about their "free trail". And I wouldn't recommend AOL to anyone for internet service.

AOL IS THE BIGGEST JOKE. THE 9.0 VERSION IS SO INFILTRATED WITH VIRUS "FRIENDLY" FILES, ANYONES COMPUTER WILL BE STRAINED TO THE MAX. NEVER HAD ANY TROUBLE TILL 9.0. FINALLY HAD TO FORMAT MY HARD DRIVE AND INSTALL A LOCAL HIGH SPEED INTERNET COMPANY. NO TROUBLES AT ALL NOW. SMOOTH AS SILK!CUSTOMER SERVICE WAS A LIVING HELL TRYING TO GET THEM (AOL)TO CANCEL MY SERVICE!HERE'S A TIP FOR PREVENTING UNAUTHORIZED BILLING: CALL YOUR CREDIT CARD CO. AND TELL THEM YOUR CARD IS LOST. THEY'LL ISSUE YOU A NEW CARD AND ACC/NUMBER AT NO COST. THEN WATCH AOL TRY TO BILL YOU. AIN'T GONNA HAPPEN!
