I purchased trip and travel insurance through Celebrity Cruise Lines for 2/21/2013 but a month before I was to leave, I had emergency surgery on my spine. The trip was purchased on 11/12/2012 and the surgery was on 1/8/2013. I notified the cruise company that I wanted a refund as I had purchased their insurance. I got a letter from AON Insurance that they are not paying because I knew before I purchased the trip that I was having surgery. How stupid is that? Since I had only received a copy of their insurance over a month past the date of purchase I had no way of cancelling as our state only has a three day window.
Aon writes back and gives me dates that they claim I went to my primary doctor but none of those dates did I see any of my doctors. In fact, in the month of November I had only seen a Gastroenterologist and my Dentist. One of the dates that they had indicated I saw my doctor was a date I was in our local district court representing my company.
I have written AON numerous times to inform them that those dates they claim that I had gone to my doctor are false and they refuse to respond to my letters. I called the President's office of Celebrity and they told me they have nothing to do with insurance even though I purchased the insurance through them. I have called and written to numerous government agencies, call for action and television stations along with AG offices only to be ignored.
My wife and I are senior citizen and I am disabled. Celebrity refuses to return our money $3,300, only to tell us to talk to the insaurance company.
When is our government going to step up and correct the issue of travel insurance with cruise lines?
