After another moving company never showed up (that's another report), I was forced to find a moving company who could move me same day. Apex Transport had ads on craigslist.org, so I gave them a call and was promised a moving team would arrive no later than 5 PM, possibly as early as 4. This was important, as I was moving from a high-rise building and could only reserve the elevators until 6 PM. After getting delayed and lost (missing a MAJOR interstate altogether), the moving crew finally showed up at 6:30 PM.

After loading the truck (friendly, worked fairly efficiently), I was told that the truck would drive through the night to my destination (600+ miles away) and I would need to meet them there. Although this was not what I had planned, I agreed since it was an emergency move. I drove my car through the night to meet the moving crew at 8 AM. I waited at the destination until 10:15 AM and no sign of the truck. Messages I left were unanswered. I went to drop off some of my stuff at my final destination a few miles away.

Just after noon, I received a call back saying the truck was behind schedule and would arrive in about 2 hours. The dispatcher would call me and verify when they were 30 minutes out so I could meet them.

This notification came around 1:30, so I went back to the drop off. I proceeded to wait for another hour and a half without the truck showing up. After calling the dispatcher again, I was told he hadn't heard from them and I should call the driver directly on his cell phone. After taking the number, the driver told me they were half an hour away. When I got their exact location, I had to inform them they were at least 90 minutes out. I asked them to call me when they got closer.

2 hours later, I received the call that they're at the drop off location. After meeting them there, I ask each team member independently why they were over 9 hours late meeting me. I got 3 different stories- one said a team member's mother got sick, another said their was a governor on the truck they were unaware of, and the driver told me that I should have called them if I needed to know where they were, as if it was my fault they told me to be there.

While unloading the furniture, I discovered a piece of my furniture had a 3" long scratch. The movers angrily told me to contact dispatch for paperwork to get reimbursed, after telling me that I should purchase a repair kit and fix it myself!! There were also several places where my furniture had white powder on it, leading me to speculate as to what had gone on in the 9 hours my delivery was missing.

When presented with the bill, there was an additional $100 in tax I had not been told about (keep in mind, I had to get this company day-of, so there were several conversations about my difficulty in obtaining that much cash after the banks had closed on a Saturday). The movers became angry when gave them less tip than they thought they deserved; I jumped in my car and left, concerned about being in an unpopulated area with 3 men who had spent the night doing God-knows-what while I drove.

At this point (nearly a month later), I have not received, despite repeated calls, the paperwork to get reimbursed for the scratch, nor any explanation for why the delivery was 9+ hours late.

First and foremost this account of what actually took place is grossly exaggerated, very creative and filled with incorrect information. We (Apex Transport) went out of our way to accommodate a potential client in need of an emergency move on an extremely short notice. When this client booked her move with us, I personally expressed to her that all of our trucks are out on jobs, but I will fit you in after the final job was completed. There was no exact pick-up time given to her whatsoever, the arrival time is directly contingent upon what time the original jobs that were already booked was completed. The author also goes out of her way to slander the character of our team members in her very creative anecdote of the moving situation. All of our team members are consummate professionals, courteous and extremely hardworking. The team members that moved her items already worked a full days worth of moving jobs and still volunteered to accept her moving job once I conveyed that she had an emergency. We (Apex Transport) adhere to a very strict drug testing policy; we have a ZERO TOLERANCE for substance abuse PERIOD. We (Apex Transport) have an impeccable safety record and literally thousands of extremely satisfied repeat customers, both residential & corporate, that will gladly express how their moving jobs went to anyone that would like to know.
