Apical Online Fake corrupted computer alert leads to absurd fees. Panama City Pananma
Alerted to serious security breach on my computer; looked as though it came from Microsoft; panicked, phoned the suggested number, spoke to charming man who by taking remote control of my computer "proved" how it had been compromised; was convinced I needed to take immediate action; gave them my credit card number and another man pressurised me into agreeing to a deal before I knew the full cost and I ended up paying over £800 for cleaning the computer (which over several hous, they did) and for two years protection (a bonafide package but a free one) and free service. I half knew I was being duped but they were very convincing................What a fool.
