United States of America#2UPDATE EX-employee responds
Sat, January 16, 2010
I used to work there and you hit it right on the nose! I quit because I could not live with myself contributing to doing this to people. The employees are indifferent because the company treats its internal staff crappy too. It brings a smile to my face seeing so many of their offices being closed because they are doing so poorly...karma is getting them and getting them hard! They purposely make their descriptions vague and use a program called "data frenzy" to post these to multiple job boards. Whenever there was a new hire, they would be required to post at least five fake posting per week to build their book of business. DISGUSTING COMPANY TO WORK FOR AS STAFF OR A TEMP!!!

AppleOne... the Huntington Beach, CA location in particular... has advertised the exact same jobs on monster.com for at least two years now, LOL! I have absolutely had it with this temp agency. I applied so many times for jobs that I am a perfect fit for. They refuse to respond to me and yet the same job gets listed on monster.com again and again and again..... I've started a blog for the purpose of collecting all the complaints about them in one place. If I see enough interest, I'm going to pursue a class action lawsuit against them. It's at tempagencylawsuit.blogspot.com.

The truth is - this is one of the hardest job markets out there in years. I knew somoene who was out of work for almost 9 months before landing a Controller role - and he competed against 20 other like-qualified individuals. With the glut of people out there, employers can be VERY choosy and selective. As such, your post had some information that needs to be clarified: 1. The postings you read on Monster or any other job board will only have the basic requirements of the position. They may not indicate you may need the experience in a particular industry because the employer didn't tell the recruiter until after the job posting was up. The employer can be so selective that you may have Oracle experience (for example), but do you have 11.7 experience? How about 11i? Implementation experience? If Oracle wasn't the most recent experience (let's say you last used AS400), that's anothe reason an employer will discount you. Believe me, the recruiter is actually saving time (yours) and reputation (his/hers) by NOT sending you to the recruiter - where you would be turned down. 2. In many cases, the recruiter knows exactly what he/she is looking for in a candidate. Trust me, that recruiter has seen one tomato after another walking in for the position the employer is looking for - and the recruiter is even somewhat frustrated after a while, not because the candidates are lame, but the employers are incredibly selective. Given the current market, employers are in a position where they don't necessarily HAVE to fill an admin position unless they find a tremendous candidate. Some employers will interview a candidate 3-4 times and still turn down a candidate - this happened to another colleague of mine recently. You can tell a bogus posting because of its incredibly generic description. Those recruiters are baiting the hook to see if there's anyone special out there for another position they may have. Getting out there working part-time and interviewing during the down hours gives you options, keeps you alert, and gets your mind sharp for the interview.

I also would like to say that this is only my personal opinion. Because we live in a country that honors free speech, I am grateful to be able to post my personal opinion on a website such as this. However, it is only my personal opinion based on my own personal experiences. I would not say that this necessarily pertains to everyone that enters Appleone. I cant speak for everyone, nor am I speaking based on investigative facts. I am only venting my personal opinion of this place based on my own personal observations.

I think you have some great stuff and your opinions about temp agencies in general are highly perceptive to say the least. I agree, but not on all fronts. I was a former model. I am thin and athletic and used to play college tennis. Your theory about having to be modelesque is, I think, the result of being put through the ego shattering experiences that these agencies do to people. It would be easy to start asking,"whats wrong with me?" or internalize the feelings and assume you are not good looking enough or good enough in some way. Please dont assume that it is a weeding out process. It really is not. It is a bait and switch game and has nothing to do with being gay, l*****n, single mother (which IM not), a parent, age, weight, or anything else that is personal. If you resond to their ads you are wasting time. Trust me. I overheard it from the horses mouth. I cant reiterate enough that being rejected by them is not personal. I dont have kids and am a good looking young person. They are not weeding out clients for their high profile Fortune 500 customers. No.

HERE WHERE I AM STAYING NOW, THERE ARE NEARLY 300 APPLICANTS TO EVERY ONE JOB AND WHEN A NEW LUXURY HOTEL OPENED UP DURING THE LAST RECESSION ,THERE WAS A LINE OF JOB SEEKERS FOR TWO LARGE CITY BLOCKS! SO EMPLOYERS DEPEND HEAVILY ON THE EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES TO WEED OUT THE UNDESIRABLES --E.G., CERTAIN MINORITIES, WOMEN EMPLOYEES, EMPLOYEES WITH DISABILITIES, GAY, l*****n, TRANSGENDER EMPLOYEES... I AM SURE YOU GET THE IDEA. THE EMPLOYERS HERE WANT CENTRAL CASTING HUNKS AND BABES AND THAT IS WHAT THE EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES TRY TO GET THEM. WHEN AN EMPLOYMENT AGENCY POSTS AN AD, IT IS LIKE A CATTLE CALL FOR AN OPEN CASTING. MOST OF US HERE KNOW WHAT WAGES WE CAN REALISTICALLY EXPECT TO GET AND THAT IS AS LOW TO THE MINIMUM WAGE AS THEY CAN PAY --- FOR ALMOST EVERYBO0DY EXCEPT NURSES AND PHYSICIANS... BUT HOPE SPRINGS ETERNAL AND WHEN WE SEE THAT TEMP OR EMPLOYMENT AGENCY OFFERING A LIVING WAGE, YOU DRIVE TO IT AND WAIT FOR THE PLACE TO OPEN UP SO YOU WILL BE THE FIRST IN LINE. INEVITABLY THAT JOB WILL NOT EXIST BUT IF YOU ARE LUCKY YOU WILL GET SOME NEAR MINIMUM WAGE GRUNT WORK.... THE EXCITING JOBS WITH GREAT PAY AND FULL BENEFIT PACKAGES CERTAINLY DON'T EXIST AND IF THEY DO A TEMP WON'T BE IN LINE FOR THEM. THEY POST WHAT THE REGULAR EMPLOYEES GET AND WHEN YOU HAVE SIGNED ON --- YOU FIND OUT THAT YOU ARE A TEMP OR A SEASONAL WORKER OR PART TIME AND NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THIS GREAT FULL BENEFITS PACKAGE. JUST ANOTHER CON GAME TO GET YOU TO TURN OUT AND SEE IF ANY LUCKY PERSON IS ELIGIBLE TO GET THE LOUSY USUAL RUN OF THE MILL JOBS THAT THEY HAVE AROUND HERE. I GUESS I FORGOT TO TELL YOU THATIF YOU ARE A WOMAN, THE EMPLOYMENT AGENCIES WANT YOU TO LOOK LIKE AUDREY HEPBURN OR JACQUELINE KENNEDY AND DRESS LIKE THEM TOO ON NEAR MINIMUM WAGE TOO... AND DON'T HAVE ANY CHILDREN TO CARE FOR BECAUSE YOU OWE IT TO THEM TO SPEND YOUR LIFE BY THE PHONE WAITING FOR THE CALL THAT NEVER COMES. ONE MORNING WHEN I WAS FIRST IN LINE, INSTEAD OF THE NICE JOB I WAS SUPPOSED TO HAVE BEEN APPLYING FOR, I FOUND OUT THEY ONLY HAD ONE DAY OF WORK PER MONTH FOR MINIMUM WAGE. THE PAY PERIOD WAS EVERY TWO WEEKS. IT HURT. THE MAGICAL DISAPPEARING JOB THAT NEVER WAS AND CAN TERMINATE AT ANY SECOND... THE AD PROMISES UP TO $12 AN HOUR ONLY THEY ALWAYS THINK OF SOME WAY SO YOU WILL NEVER MAKE THAT $12 AN HOUR. AND THE BENEFITS THAT THEY PROMISE, TOTALLY BOGUS... THE EMPLOYMENT AND TEMP AGENCIES JUST WANT TO CALL IN PEOPLE WHO ARE LOOKING FOR WORK SO THEY CAN ADD TO THEIR TALENT POOL AND THEY MAY TOSS YOUR APPLICATIONS IN THE TRASH OR THEY MIGHT HAVE A GREAT MENIAL JOB FOR YOU IF YOU ARE JUST AN AVERAGE JOE. THESE HEADHUNTERS, PEOPLE MERCHANTS, SLAVE TRADERS OR WHATEVER YOU WANT TO CALL THEM DO A LOT OF THINGS AND BAIT AND SWITCH IS THE LEAST OF THE M...
