ARA Scam, False Report, False Collections Villa Park, Illinois
I received a statement in the mail saying that I owed $387.73. I immediately called to dispute the claim, knowing I did not have any outstanding balances.
The woman I spoke to said it was for a Lack's card, which I have never heard of, and then asked if the last 4 digits of my SS# were 8047, which they aren't. She then asked if my last name was Bradshaw, which it isn't. She put me on hold, acted like it was strange and that she would look into it.
Then she came back and started accusing me of using 3 different socials and 3 different names at my address. I told her I just moved here and I had never heard of any of the other names she was talking about. Then she started yelling into the phone, "You can sit here and pretend you have no idea what I'm talking about, but our records are the same as the police and they say you have 3 different social security numbers at that address!" I immediately thanked her and hung up the phone, realizing she had no merit or sense.
My only fear is that they would continue to pursue the charges. I'd like to trash it and forget about it. Does anyone know anything about this?
