Companies get away with everything but murder these days, all at the expense of the ordinary worker. Fight ...don't just walk away, be a pest and they will at least settle out of court. I know it's not a substitute for a job you may have loved but it will hopefully send a message about how poorly executed their training is. It is maddening to read about million dollar bonuses given to people running companies into oblivion, and then to see the little guy getting hosed for something this petty. Shame on this Arby's franchisee....Hell will be too cold for the upper management there.

When you were hired at Arby's did they give you any paperwork on safety procedures? I was given a small book on safety procedures for the company. I hurt myself on the slicer, and was written up for it. Even though when I was trained no one used the gloves when they did it. If they did give you this booklet, then technically you are at fault.

Julie, It's apparent you were improperly trained and improperly supervised. That's not your fault, but the training managers. You suffered a needless physical injury and emotional injury as well. You deserve compensation. Please get in touch with a personal injury attorney. In order to bolster your position your lawyer will probably subpoena some current and former employees and managers of the district Arbys stores. I'm sure their horror stories of incompetent management and training will give your case the justice it deserves. Don't pursue the Workers Comp issue, this is purely an Arbys issue. Good luck......and don't back down.
