First, AAFES does pay both Federal and State Taxes on gas/petroleum products sold at its State side locations as well as the environmental fees/taxes on underground storage. The overseas prices are managed separetly and sometimes AAFES makes money on the sale and other times AAFES does not, depending on how the market fluctuates. In the US, AAFES service stations sometimes lose money because of how/when the government buys the gas. Secondly, AAFES is not a public company. It is a DoD agency and not subject to public disclosure or trading.

Hello, Houston. The cost data I presented is based on cost per GALLON. Since my report, AAFES had responded to me with their cost and pricing data. It is somewhat complex. AAFES did disclose what their cost per gallon is, and their method for price buildup. It is resonable and there is a management mechanism in place to validate the price build-up. Their price per gallon is slighly more than what would be paid by the normal consumer in the US. However, some of AAFES revenues support such programs as Morale, Welfare and Recreation. Additonally, some revenues support prices for products that are purchased by lower enlisted graded personnel. The big point is, AAFES stated the cost of a gallon of gasoline. If you care to know, go to their website and contact customer service. They will provide a courteous response.

Are you sure as to the amount in the price claim. Remember that in Germany and France, the gasoline is sold in liters not gallons offbase and gallons on base. Now because it takes over 3 Liters to equal a gallon, then recalculate on that factor to the cost on base for a gallon.
