Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
Commencing the end of 2007 we started receiving telephone calls for "Leslie". We intially thought it was a wrong number. But depsite several time telling them that the person was not at our number or address the calls persisted. After a coule fo wek we wer asked for the full name and still told them the were not here. Weh I wuld ask who was calling they would say they would call bak later. The number was not in the caller ID. OUtr Number is in the Federal Do Not Call registry and we notified the callers of that also.

By February I was fed up and searched the Internet for the person being asked for and found that there were two listed, none in Florida but in NC and VA. I told a couple of callers how incompetent they were and to stop calling. The we got calls asking for "Gary" withteh same last name. Again I went to the internet and was able to locate one in Nebraska but none in Florida.

Today I finally lucked out! The person asked for leslie and I asked who was calling and the told me! I asked for the conay name and he also told me (ARS National Services). And he gave me the phone number and extension before I advised him I was notifying the Federal Government of his violation.

After looking up the company on the web, it is obvious they are a telephone equivalent of the nigerian scam operation where apparenllty they try to get one person to "settle" for a non-existant debt. Now that I know, I can keep on reporting it!

They are so stupid!

I understand both parties involved here.  I have received calls from this place before as well.  I do have a debt and totally understand.  Money does not grow on trees because if it did, I'd be the first to harvest, however here is my issue.

The first time I was ever called, I tried to settle the debt responsibly what was within my means.  I had a very bad time and as typical, domino effect, not to mention loss of job and income.  I have more than 1 bill mind you so I had to do my best to try and prevent all of them from falling behind or into collections.  Unfortunately, the money going to my Dell account I just couldnt pay, not with it not affecting the balance.  I made a tough call and had to not pay it with what I had left in savings.

Anyways, I got the call and this idiot, and I do mean in the most diplomatic way, DOES get belligerent with me and has the gall to say that I have a $60,000 credit account.  I of course said, well for one thing if I did have that, the bill would be paid for, and the other thing, Im looking at my credit report right now and there is no credit for that at all.  He tried to make me feel less than human, and trust me I hate owing as it is, if things hadnt gone the way they did in 2007, I wouldnt even owe this, but it did, so I dont need some poor excuse for a human being talking to me and threatening me.

I hung up on him, even after I tried to give him what I could.  So let it be known all out there, NO creditors arent willing to work with you...

But what about wrong numbers? We have no debt for you to collect!

Descpite "Not all are the same" the employe made an assumption that we were the holders of the debt which they were trying to collect, and therefore the harrassment is justified. Not true! My credit score is supurb with not being late on any payment in over 40 years. So do not tell me that I deserve to be harassed because some idiot cannot look up a phone number correctly. They simply don't care and probably get paid by the number of calls they make, not the number of correct calls they make. Since this report was originally submitted our volume has dropped by 2/3 and the ones we get admit they are using an old list provided by... you guessed it!

I've been working for ARS now for about 3 years. Even though collectors as a whole get a bad name, not all of us are the same. I have a great supervisor, and the upper management are great also. As far as harassment goes, you people owe a debt or multiple debts. I know times are tough, my family feels the crunch also. But at least my bills are paid, and I DON'T have "people like me" calling "people like you!!" The thing that gets me, is how people act on the phone. I personally don't swear, degrade, put down or otherwise make people feel bad; I don't have to. It is unprofessional and inhumane. I don't break the FDCPA (look it up if you have to), I get tested once every 6 months to see if I still know the rules, and if I don't pass, I don't have a job. Yes, it is a money game; and yes, times are still tough; but, we have guidelines and protocol we have to follow, just like any other job. I guess what I'm trying to say is, be friendly on the phone to us, and we will do the same. You can ALWAYS work things out with collectors from my company.
