Deuce

It is a bit shady that they didn't leave their contract. I've heard of them but haven't had any direct contact with them so I can't comment on that. But I do know a lot about the insurance process with homes, vehicles, and life.
With insurance claims, getting multiple bids WILL NOT save you any money. It will, however, save the INSURANCE company money. If a contractor will do the same work the insurance says needs to be fixed for LESS than what the insurance company is estimating it at, the insurance company will then PAY LESS!!! You don't get to put that money in your pocket. It is illegal for customers to profit monetarily from an insurance claim. If you find someone to do it for less...you insurance company will thank you.
The insurance company will cover all of the cost of repairs EXCEPT for your deductible. That part you have to come up with. It didn't come off the top. The insurance company showed what the project should cost. They then said we will give you all the money for it...except your deductible which you are required to pay. If a contractor says he will do it for less, the insurance company will then pay less. But the deductible will always be there. And going with a lower bid won't save you money.
