Tell us has your experience with this business or person been good? What's this?
I have paid my husbands bill which had an agreed 0% interest. We moved in March of 2004 and I changed my address with all of our companies...but, could not reach a live person at Aspire Visa, so I included the address change with my March payment...April payment...and in June our bill arrived three days before it was due. I again sent in my payment and sent a letter to each of the addresses on the invoice and sent an e-mail. My payment arrived one day late and now I have 26.99% interest. They do not respond to any correspondence. I called Columbus bank (whose name is also on our card) only to be told that they receive many calls from angry customers daily. They gave me three numbers, two of which were no longer in service.

I finally tracked down the corporation that hides behind this company...Compucredit. They have a very colorful history and the SEC has had many run ins with them. I was able to get through their "Gatekeeper" only to be transferred to a calling center where I was told I was met with the rudest, unhelpful and dishonest representative. While he acknowledged my 0% plan he claims it should never have been on this plan so long. He also said that the account was placed in a higher risk category because they didn't have an updated address and I was a day late in June. I asked him to review the correspondence and he even acknowledged they had many letters from me and even waived the late fee because they didn't get around to changing my address.

I told him that the practices were very suspect and that by all intensive purposes, they were preditory in nature. Who do I turn them into? You can never get a live person, I pay all of my bills on line, but cant with them. They charge you $15 if you pay by phone. And prime is 5%...26.99% is preditory! Even BC lenders don't charge rates that high. Yes, I am in the finance industry and if I had the extra money on hand to get my husband out of this mess I would in a second. I am sorry for anyone who gets caught up with this company.

The articles I have read about them included lying to the SEC, class action suits by stockholders and preditory practices. The companies execs who believe themselves to be above the law are as follows:

David Hanna, founder

Richard Gilbert, founder

Richard House, President

KK Srinivasan, Chief Credit Officer

Paul Whitehead, Chief Financial Officer

Mack Mattingly, Director

They need to be stopped!!! if anyone can help please do so.
